As with many other Uberleben items I have purchased, this proves to be of very high quality. The striker even has an edge sharp enough to throw plenty of sparks from the rod. Oddly, this is not the case with many other Ferro Rod/striker combinations from other makers.

I like this überleben Kräftig Fire Starter. It works in high wind. It works in freezing / below freezing weather, where liquid or gas lighters will freeze. It will work with cold numb hands to quickly start a fire. Mother Nature can be deadly in any season, camping, and Bushcraft without the ability to make fire. Keep Mother Nature your friend. If you are a pro or novice, you will appreciate the this fire starter. It should be labeled a torch! After showing my kiddos how to use this, my four year old daughter started a fire in three minutes. Great product, easy to hold and produces showers of sparks with each stroke. I would highly recommend this product to go in your pack. You will not be disappointed.

This ferro rod will outlive most of us! I wish the striker was a little sharper out of the package but maybe I have a dud.
