I’ve purchased this type item from a few different vendors and the quality levels vary greatly. This fire starter is great when used by a pocket knife however the striker provided is junk. You will barely get any spark at all if you rely on the given striker. I would recommend removing it and relying on the back of your blade. The stick itself has a nice length and should last a few years with the amount of use I will give it. Over all I would look elsewhere to save a few bucks.

Bought this fire starter through Amazon to go in the sheath pouch of my new Ontario RD-6. I had to scrape the paint off the rod and then it worked beautifully! Nice heft and throws lots of sparks!

Start a fire or break someones teeth with it. THE CHOICE IS YOURS, AND YOURS ALONE.

This is a be all end all tool that, with practice and patience, just might save your life. Ive tested many similar items, and I think this will be your best option in terms of ease, deployment and results! Well done!

Good size. Striker works well as does back of knife. Lots of spark.

This thing is a beast. I like collecting fire starters, and have around twenty different ones. This one is by far the biggest. It would take a long time to use this thing up. Definitely recommend it.

This fire steel is probably laeger than you need. If you are looking for a massive fire steel to practice with, the Kraftig may be just what you want. If you want a practical fire steel to include in an emergency kit or go-bag, the Kraftig is probably excessive. I no longer find it much easier to use large fire steels than relatively small ones, so I only use the kraftig for testing different strikers and tinders, and demonstrating techniques. Also, the included striker is middle-of the road in terms of producing and directing sparks. Otherwise, the quality of the steel itself is very good.
