> 3 dayIve only had this handvac for about two months (bought July 2014) and I hope it lasts forever! I dont know how I ever lived without it. It replaces a floor vac that worked through a hand vac, and my main reason for replacing it was that it held almost nothing and was a pain to empty. Boy, did I get more than I expected. The suction on this vacuum is super -- far greater than the hand vac that was supposed to be a floor vac as well. And yes, it picks up kibbles. And cat hair. (Id joke that it would probably pick up the cat, but someone would think I might consider such a thing...) And the crumbs that fall past the toaster crumb tray. And the flour on the kneading counter. And spilled sugar. It picks up incidental cat hair well too, though as the house is completely blanketed in cat hair I dont use the hand vac specifically for it. The round barrel you see is for dirt. The whole end is the lid -- just pull the latch (grey inset above) and dump the barrel into a wastebasket or a bag. So far the lid seals tight when shut (just close it -- not like all the fiddling around with the Dyson). The filter is easy to clean and so simple to remove I have to look at the manual because I dont believe it could be that simple. The little brush tucked under the nozzle gets the last grain of sugar, the last crumb. I still have to remember to angle the nozzle so it can do its stuff. The brush is fairly soft -- wouldnt be afraid to use it on any surface whatever. Press lightly and pull another bit of nozzle out for more reach and bit more slenderness. It locks with a few friction bumps when pulled out all the way, but stays out well enough for a quick slurp when not locked. The pivot is easy to work -- a press to release a latch and presto! Its been harder to remember that I can angle the nozzle to get at the grooves in the sliding windows and other awkward places. Its so easy to stand the vac in the charging stand I have a hard time remembering that too. Just set it down. The vacuum stands in the cradle so vacuum in charger takes up almost no more room than the vacuum alone. It needs about 7 inches from back to front and with the nozzle straight up its about 16 inches high. It comes with screws for mounting to a wall, if one had an appropriate wall. The vacuum goes in the charger sideways, kind of -- handle to the side-- and theres a nice display of a row of blinking blue lights while it charges. Ive never run the battery out yet -- may have an update if I can ever face cleaning my car. Possible cons, for some people: it may make too much noise to suit some, and its kind of high pitched compared to say, the Shop Vac. Kind of goes with the territory, I guess -- never had a decent vacuum that wasnt pretty loud. I dont use the vac for long at a time so it hasnt bothered me. The vacuum blows a strong stream of air (what goes in must come out--) in my face at certain rather unusual angles. It seems to be very clean air, doesnt make me sneeze and sniffle, but its kind of a shock. It does take a bit to rev up -- say one eyeblink. Its ready before I am so so what. It has some weight to it but its well balanced. The question these days is always durability. Will it work for another two months? Two years? Five? Will the BDJ2000PL you buy in December 2014 have already deteriorated from the one I bought in July? Lets hope not.

> 3 dayI bought this on the NYT recommendation. Been using it a few weeks, and no problems with battery life or not holding/taking a charge, as others have reported. I work out of the home, with my shop in the basement, so I have to frequently vacuum my bench area to avoid the dust creeping to other parts of the house. Before I bought this, every time I needed to vacuum the bench area, I would walk around the back of the bench, turn on the Shop Vac, vacuum the area, and then walk back to the front side of the bench. This little powerful vac has already saved me numerous trips like that, and because its handy, I even vacuum it up more often. At the end of the day, I walk up the stairs with vac in hand, and give each stair a quick swipe. Then, I plug it in the charger upstairs to get ready for the next day. I love this thing so much, my wife and I plan to buy one for the main house.

04-06-2025Im a fan of great design so lets start out with the pluses: I love the adjustable nozzle on this thing and the way it looks and ease of docking in the charging station. Its fairly lightweight too. Now the minuses: I think this was designed for a very quick pick ups--the suction is fantastic in the first 5-10 minutes and then starts dwindling very quickly, even after a full charge. The dirt cup lid opens at a 90° angle which makes it awkward to tap over a garbage can, and usually lets a bunch of the junk I just sucked fall all over the floor. Very aggravating. The lid also accidentally opens sometimes, which is a huge negative when youre trying to clean up, not spread more dirt. The nozzle is nice and wide, but pet hair, bits of wrappers etc. get sucked up and then clogged in the flap that leads to the dirt cup, reducing the suction to nearly 0 and requiring that you stop your task and get a tool to somehow pull that junk out. Overall I would give this five stars for the look and design but two stars for the actual function. Ive had this Hoover hand vac for three years and its a workhorse — I can vacuum nearly an entire 1200 square-foot house on one charge. It has a smaller nozzle, but Ill trade that any day for the suction and performance: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QF68YTM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

> 3 dayGreat vacuum but always a challenge removing and cleaning/replacing the filter. After 3 years and minimum usage, the motor started whining, and the unit became too noisy to use. More than sufficient power and overall design, but it should last longer without replacement.

> 3 dayOh my gosh - best purchase ever! Powerful, easy to charge. Quick clean-up for inside drawers, bathroom floor around blow dry area. My car. Little dust and items that you dont need a full vacuum for. Love it!

> 3 dayWe were hoping that Black+Decker would come out with a Lithium-ion vacuum to replace the Ni-cad fold-able vacuum, which weve had two of and loved them. The only downside of the older version was battery life. This vacuum has more suction than the Ni-cad version. It feels smoother operating (folding, and emptying) than the older version The battery should hold up much better We are very pleased with this Vacuum! The only negative I have is why in the world would a great product ship with flat-head screws instead of Phillips screws!

> 3 dayIve sent 3 of these type of vacs back. This is a keeper. As a ride share driver with a black interior I need something quick and efficient. This delivered in spades. There is nothing negative to say. For the price its worth every penny. The reviews where people didnt understand how to work it? You gotta be dense. Its just what you need. Sure itll work around the house but its a car or shop vac. Itll pick up large objects but theyll get stuck. Use your hands, but for for dust, dirt, hair, smaller objects this is the bomb. Happy Uberman. Update. I charged the unit fully the 1st time. Approx 6 hrs. The LED light went off. It functioned very well as described above. The run time seemed short but I did not time it. Recharge took over 2 hours. The next use I timed. 8 1/2 minutes. Recharged again over 2 hours. Run time 8 minutes. Im assuming a bad unit so Im exchanging it for another. Its a great unit but run time and Recharge are poor. Lets see what the next one does. Final update. The new unit, again, works for about 10 minutes before the charge fails. Recharging its 2 1/2 - 3 hours. It works very well for quick cleaning jobs. For an uberman like myself itll be fine. Ill keep it. Its great to quick vac van after ubering.
