This has incredible suction. Best I have seen in a hand vac. This items problems lie in the design. Specifically in servicing the filter. From factory the filter was EXTREMely hard to remove the first time. It was so tight into its locked in position we thought it was defective. Finally broke it loose but then the filter wanted to un seat when you rotated the pivot point. Had two vacs both the same. This was annoying enough I sent them both back reluctantly because when assembled an in use it was super powerful. Purchased a shark CH901 as replacement and they are wonderful!

When it comes to a cleaning appliance, definitely dont try to skimp on the price of a good hand vacuum. I use this to pick up dirt and leaves in my car, along with nooks and crannies in our house that are difficult to get to. It works really well and theres a visible difference within seconds (as there should be with a good quality vacuum!) Black + Decker knew what they were doing with this.

Never having owned a small handheld vacuum before, I guess it’s OK. It does have an awful high pitched sound and its narrow opening makes for cleaning the stairs an annoying long task. It’s good for a few crumps in the kitchen or some hair on the bathroom floor. OK for the car seats but not strong enough for the floors. Certainly not good for dog hair. Would I buy it again? NO

I bought this for small cleanups in the kitchen but I have used it for so much more. It is the best small vacuum Ive ever had from the pivoting head to the easy empty cannister. The suction is phenomenal and I couldnt be happier with this purchase. You have to get one, you wont be disappointed.

Super product and best on the market for suction, width of nozzle, battery/charging power, large canister size, etc etc. Has a washable and very durable filter inside. It is a solidly manufactured, heavyweight monster in a good way. Bends in all different directions. Pricey but worth it in a weird way, see below. Im on my third one. But not for the best reason. The bummer: Ive used for one reason only - to suck up cat litter that my cats toes kick out or drop when the exit the box. In doing so, it also sucks up some of my own hair (bathroom). Sometimes used for kitchen floor corners, but rarely - because it is used for the cat litter box area. In each of the three times Ive purchased the same exact model/unit, it has worked PERFECTLY until just one day you get a loud GRINDING sound and a perfectly electrically smoky smell as though something is burning. Cleaned it out, made sure nothing was stuck in it, was very careful...to no avail. Too late to return to Amazon, and Black and Decker basically doesnt exist if you try to get hold of them to execute on the limited warranty. (Limited because no one answers the phone or replies to emails.) So, whatever, I figured it was a one-off. Ordered another. SAME THING. I mean, I only have to use it MAYBE once a day for less than 30 seconds. Another couple years of keeping it clean and taking good care of it and yep, GRINDING & BURNING SMELL. THIRD time around I ordered a different brand and model. Didnt like it; returned...just not comparable. Ordered three others over a few weeks and none compared to the quality of this Black and Decker. None were as expensive as this one either. Flummoxed, I finally gave in and ordered the THIRD one, which Im currently using. I give it a year. Is it worth the cost? Your decision. For ease of use, quality of suction and all of the above, I think Ill end up buying a new one every couple of years. I dont want to do the math but 30 seconds x 365 days x2 divided by whatever I spent on it is, I guess, worth it. What really bums me out is the massive plastic waste - not earth friendly. Nothing sucks up cat litter (or small particles) as this one does, not even a hand broom. So, dont say I didnt tell you. When I ordered a replacement the second time, I saw that some others had the same experience. Yet, others loved it. All I can say is that at this point, I agree with both. Even those who experienced this major flaw say that it is an otherwise excellent, superior, product. Keep the box and receipt, and the box it was mailed to you in, in case it dies on you and you want to return before the Amazon return period ends.

But it sucks in a good way! Its got great suction power and folds up compactly. Easy to empty. A great step up from the traditional Dust Buster.

I bought this on the NYT recommendation. Been using it a few weeks, and no problems with battery life or not holding/taking a charge, as others have reported. I work out of the home, with my shop in the basement, so I have to frequently vacuum my bench area to avoid the dust creeping to other parts of the house. Before I bought this, every time I needed to vacuum the bench area, I would walk around the back of the bench, turn on the Shop Vac, vacuum the area, and then walk back to the front side of the bench. This little powerful vac has already saved me numerous trips like that, and because its handy, I even vacuum it up more often. At the end of the day, I walk up the stairs with vac in hand, and give each stair a quick swipe. Then, I plug it in the charger upstairs to get ready for the next day. I love this thing so much, my wife and I plan to buy one for the main house.

Great suction. Holds charge. Good job on upholstery and everything Ive used it on. Just what I was looking for (and disappointed with in others). We dont have stairs, but I think it would be great for that as well. Plan to use in car also.

Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesnt speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since its cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However Ive never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasnt died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesnt sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two On levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old ones switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so Im convinced this new one is great. :)
