WE love this so much that we ordered a second one in within 1 week of getting the first one and seeing how it performed.

Ordered this based on many positive reviews in October 2022. We used it about every 2 weeks to vacuum out our cars (1 full charge would work for my mid-sized SUV.) Occasionally, we used it in the home for some crumbs on the carpet after the kids had a snack. I emptied it after each use and was gentle on it. Suddenly, it just stopped working in mid-May - the base charger wont connect and light up the unit - I know the vacuum still works as there is a little battery left and I can turn it on. So am I out $80 after only 7 months? It says on amazon that the product support window is closed as is the return window (as of mid-January.) So my next option is to try to take advantage of the 2 year limited warranty provided by Black and Decker. I will try to update this when I get more information from them. ::: UPDATE: Calling their support line was easy and I got a real human being who quickly verified my purchase and is sending me a new base charger. Phew! I upped the stars from 1 to 4.

I purchased the vacuum after much research and I was not disappointed! Overall, I am incredibly happy with the product but here are a few things to consider before buying them yourself: Pros: It looks very sleek. It looks really good on its charging port as well! I dont mind displaying out in the open. It also is quite compact when stored in its charging dock which is a plus. Its suction is great! I think that was the number one thing that I was looking for in a hand held vacuum as ones in the past had issues with this. Cons: The one gripe I have with this vacuum and for you to consider is that its actually a little awkward using it. The head is a lot shorter than it looks in the picture and it makes it awkward to hold for some reason. Its probably more of my own preference than anything but something to consider. ***update*** Ive had this product for several months now and it is still working great!!! Suction still works great, battery life is good and its cleaned up quite a bit of mess for us in the last few month. But, there is one more thing for the buyer to consider that I noticed with more use. There is a rubber lip inside that prevents anything sucked into the vacuum from coming out. It works great for that purpose. But, one continuous issue I am having is bigger particles getting stuck in-between the lip and the filter. There isnt a whole lot of space between them and anything bigger than dust will get stuck there. When I go to dump the mess in the trash, I often have to reach in there and pick out whatever is wedged in there. Not a deal breaker by any means, but nevertheless an annoyance for you to consider. ***update*** Recently, after having the product for about 6 months, the hinge on my vacuum broke. I recently read a review that indicated the same issue. For the overall good quality of the rest of the vacuum, this plastic hinge for the door is a little disappointing. We have used it daily, so by no means has the vacuum been handled with delicacy. BUT, who has time to treat their vacuum delicately! It just needs to work to clean up all of those messes your kids make! I could not find any way to contact costumer service on Amazon so decided to go to their website directly. Their website is not the easiest to navigate and finding the contact information too a few minutes but once I put in my request, I received a response within a few days. They did not have any spare parts or had any solutions for a fix but they were able to send me a replacement unit for free of charge. I know Amazon has you buy a 2 year warranty but I saw on the Black and Decker website that the two year warranty was included in the purchase. Not sure if it does not apply to the batch on Amazon but I have a hard time seeing black and decker not honoring the warranty. I dont know if I was covered or they were being nice, but I do appreciate the good customer service! So if you have a similar issue and your vacuum is less than 2 years old, try contacting them directly about the issue. Besides the hinge, this is still a great vacuum.

Bought this to aid in the collection of multi-colored Asian beetles that seem to invade our home year-round, vacuuming them up from walls, ceilings, and around windows and doors from room to room. The on-board brush that flips into place protects finishes. The motion in the filter actually dismembered most of the invaders. Its light enough to vacuum above ones head at length. This works great to clean cars and the onboard crevice tool extension comes in handy. The battery lasts a long time before charging.

I bought this item after reading the rave reviews and comparing it to a few other products. I bought this for work - to clean up drywall dust and other minor messes. I thought Id give it a test first cleaning up my jeep. Ill start by saying I hadnt vacuumed my jeep in about 4 months - so there was plenty of debris to be picked up from leaves, to hair, and other small particulates. Mission accomplished. My jeep (wrangler) and all its crevices are clean. The only negative - is that it took me a few hours to do it. Thats because I did the front seats and floorboard before the battery died. I recharged and then did the rear seats, floorboard and cargo area - and it died as I finished. In grand total, I got about 20-25 minutes between two full charges. Likely, you wont be trying to clean a whole car with this device, but if you do, be warmed of the relatively short run time. In the future, I guess I should be able to get the car clean on one charge as I never really let my car get 4 months dirty. In short, you likely wont be disappointed with this product, just be prepared for it not to last that long. Docked a 1/2 star for short battery life and a 1/2 star for a non-replacable battery.

It is a little difficult to open the machine to remove the dust filter and wash it. But after you do it a couple times you get the hang of it.

I have waffle mats under the cat litter boxes to capture litter. This device does a fabulous job of vacuuming up the bits of litter out of the waffles. I dont dump the suctioned-up litter back in the box as Im using the vacuum for so much more...kitchen, stairs... It is easy to empty the container and about once a week, I take it apart and clean the filters. Note, the plastic filter cup does tend to get the bits of litter stuck in the little holes. I have a wire brush which I use to scrub out those particles. So easy.

Great suction. Holds charge. Good job on upholstery and everything Ive used it on. Just what I was looking for (and disappointed with in others). We dont have stairs, but I think it would be great for that as well. Plan to use in car also.

Over the last decades, I have had many manual vacuums...starting with corded ones and on to battery-powered ones. I chose this one after expertly reviewing customers reviews. I agree with most favorable assessments: this is a good handheld vacuum. I like the filter set-up for cleaning, and I especially like the sucking force! Unfortunately, the head/mouth of the device is such that it is too close to the ground so particles as high as 2-3mm are passed over. There is plenty of suction power to get them but the vacuum mouth has no way to lead them in . You just have to raise the vacuum to get them in on the 2nd or 3rd pass. Otherwise a well-working product worth its extra cost for the power.

Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesnt speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since its cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However Ive never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasnt died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesnt sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two On levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old ones switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so Im convinced this new one is great. :)
