Greater than one weekWill this replace your canister vacuum? No. The power is nowhere near what you get out of shop vac or a decent canister. That said, who wants to haul out the vacuum from the closet and drag it into the kitchen to pick up a handful of spilled sesame seeds, or pickup small debris on car mats, or capture a stray dust bunny in a corner. This thing is all about convenience. It’s always handy and easy to deploy. The features are nice and it looks well build. I just hope it lasts because we don’t like the idea of creating more e-waste. B&D should be ashamed that they created a product that uses a non serviceable battery. And we should be ashamed we bought it, but there’s no hand vac we found with replaceable batteries. So good enough piece of cleaning equipment. I suspect better than most.

> 3 dayWe used this hand vac daily for 3 years. Its a great little vacuum - really picks up dirt, dust and debris. But after 3 years, the battery is getting weak and it now runs only for a couple of minutes before being unusable. Its very easy to get to the battery pack: remove the vac barrel; remove two screws from the case: slip off the side cover; slip the battery out of the case; disconnect the quick disconnect; and, its ready for a replacement battery pack. Except that there are no replacement battery packs! The battery part number is 515LPFC, but B+D doesnt carry them, nor does Amazon nor any of the parts houses. The battery pack case can easily be opened to reveal a circuit board and 5 battery cells. But the battery cells are welded onto their connectors, so they cannot easily be removed, and they are completely covered by the case so that any identifying marks are hidden. It may be possible to break the welds on the batteries, but it will take more than a soldering iron to do so. Without any means to replace the failing battery, that means that the entire unit must be discarded. I give 5 stars for the vacuum, but only 1 star for the unavailability of replacement batteries, so that averages out to 3 stars.

Greater than one weekOh my gosh - best purchase ever! Powerful, easy to charge. Quick clean-up for inside drawers, bathroom floor around blow dry area. My car. Little dust and items that you dont need a full vacuum for. Love it!

> 3 dayIve had some crappy hand vacs around this price that did essentially nothing--but this one is amazing! Ive used it so much during this pet-shedding season, and its also great for vacuuming up baking soda on couches, bits of crumbled drywall/other home improvement detritus, and dusty corners. I havent used it in the car, yet, but I imagine itll be great for that, too. Its very low-profile, too, since it folds up for charging. (The adjustability of the vac is great, generally.) I havent tested it to the full length of its battery charge, but if youre using it for spot cleaning, that shouldnt be an issue.

> 3 dayI had a Black & Decker handheld vacuum for many years that recently stopped working, so I replaced it with this. This has fantastic suction, even better than my old one that I thought was great. Love the brush tool for getting hair out of small rugs and carpeted stairs, and I love that the brush has its own little holder right on the vacuum (as opposed to in the base) so I dont lose it. The design does have some awkwardness that my old one didnt have. Exhaust is in the back instead of on the right side, so if youre not careful, it blows back in your face, and its pretty difficult to use due to that if you need to sit on the floor to get at something. Cleaning it is awkward as well. Its easy to pop open to empty, but the mechanism to get the filter out is in a different place and VERY hard to use. Its difficult to explain, but basically you have to pop half the vacuum off and its not easily done (for me, anyway). I liked the old design where the filter came right out of the same place where you empty the vacuum. Edited to add: The battery does not last long.

> 3 dayI purchased the vacuum after much research and I was not disappointed! Overall, I am incredibly happy with the product but here are a few things to consider before buying them yourself: Pros: It looks very sleek. It looks really good on its charging port as well! I dont mind displaying out in the open. It also is quite compact when stored in its charging dock which is a plus. Its suction is great! I think that was the number one thing that I was looking for in a hand held vacuum as ones in the past had issues with this. Cons: The one gripe I have with this vacuum and for you to consider is that its actually a little awkward using it. The head is a lot shorter than it looks in the picture and it makes it awkward to hold for some reason. Its probably more of my own preference than anything but something to consider. ***update*** Ive had this product for several months now and it is still working great!!! Suction still works great, battery life is good and its cleaned up quite a bit of mess for us in the last few month. But, there is one more thing for the buyer to consider that I noticed with more use. There is a rubber lip inside that prevents anything sucked into the vacuum from coming out. It works great for that purpose. But, one continuous issue I am having is bigger particles getting stuck in-between the lip and the filter. There isnt a whole lot of space between them and anything bigger than dust will get stuck there. When I go to dump the mess in the trash, I often have to reach in there and pick out whatever is wedged in there. Not a deal breaker by any means, but nevertheless an annoyance for you to consider. ***update*** Recently, after having the product for about 6 months, the hinge on my vacuum broke. I recently read a review that indicated the same issue. For the overall good quality of the rest of the vacuum, this plastic hinge for the door is a little disappointing. We have used it daily, so by no means has the vacuum been handled with delicacy. BUT, who has time to treat their vacuum delicately! It just needs to work to clean up all of those messes your kids make! I could not find any way to contact costumer service on Amazon so decided to go to their website directly. Their website is not the easiest to navigate and finding the contact information too a few minutes but once I put in my request, I received a response within a few days. They did not have any spare parts or had any solutions for a fix but they were able to send me a replacement unit for free of charge. I know Amazon has you buy a 2 year warranty but I saw on the Black and Decker website that the two year warranty was included in the purchase. Not sure if it does not apply to the batch on Amazon but I have a hard time seeing black and decker not honoring the warranty. I dont know if I was covered or they were being nice, but I do appreciate the good customer service! So if you have a similar issue and your vacuum is less than 2 years old, try contacting them directly about the issue. Besides the hinge, this is still a great vacuum.

> 3 dayBut it sucks in a good way! Its got great suction power and folds up compactly. Easy to empty. A great step up from the traditional Dust Buster.

Greater than one weekIt is a little difficult to open the machine to remove the dust filter and wash it. But after you do it a couple times you get the hang of it.
