I was looking for some smart plugs to monitor my electrical usage in certain areas of the home, and I came across these BN-Link Smart Plug Outlets. installation and setup was very easy and quick; I did have to install the SmartLife app first, in order to configure each smart plug to my home network (more on this later). One good thing I noticed was that I could program all of the Smart Plugs beforehand using the app. From there I could unplug them and move each outlet to their actual location in the house, plug them back in, and the Smart Plug would retain the programming - very handy. With each Smart Plug installed, in the SmartLife app I could see and control the state of each outlet, optionally program schedules and countdown timers, and most importantly (and why I chose these Smart Plugs) I can see realtime and graphed power consumption. The status page for each outlet shows me current power in watts, the voltage output at the outlet, and accumulative (total) electricity used in KWh. A sub-page shows energy consumption as a bar graph for easy inspection. As far as the Smart compatibility is concerned, these Smart Plugs are not compatible with HomeKit out of the box (they are for the Alexa/Google side). However, with a HomeBridge and the SmartLife plug-in, I have successfully and easily added all of the BN-Link Smart Plugs (I bought 8 total) into my Apple HomeKit. The BN-Link Smart Plugs are controllable in the Home app on all of my Apple devices; however, it is limited to on/off functionality only. I cannot check the energy consumption through Apple HomeKit. There are only 2 small things I would ask for with these Smart Plugs. 1: it would be nice if the SmartLife app had an energy overview page showing all of the Smart Plug energy consumption on one page; as is I have to go into the setting page for each plug one at a time to check individual energy consumption. 2: I wish there was a simple toggle to turn on/off the LED light on the front of the Smart Plugs; theyre not blindingly bright, but in a dark room they definitely are noticeable. Aside from those two small things, I have no complaints about these smart plugs. They are easy to set up and work great. I dont take any points away for not being HomeKit compatible becuase they clearly stated they were not. So, if youre looking for budget-friendly smart plugs that allow you to track energy consumption, be sure to give these a try!

Easy to use, convenient to turn on all lamps at once or a few at a time. Programming is easy. Phone app is very useful too

I like how simple and easy it to use! All you do is download an app onto your smartphone and connect the plugs to them. Then you add timers and other features you want and that’s it. They work great!

Not rated for it but we are using these outside (covered patio up near the roof in a weather rated outdoor gfi outlet). We have a set of heavy duty outdoor string lights plugged into them that we like to turn off and on wirelessly. I chose this style based solely on where the power button is. The outlet is installed horizontally and the cover makes it hard for the other wifi plugs to fit (the power button on most of them is on the left side and the cover presses on it and turns it off). This one is a little cumbersome but the plug on the back is on the left side and the button is on the right so it hangs down out of the outlet perfectly and the button is clear. The last wifi plug we had was only 10 amps and it got fried in a month. Not sure if the draw from the patio lights was too strong or what, but this one has been working well so far and it was easy to set up (I did not set it up so cannot give any specific details on that).

I had an older mostly mechanical timer for a table lamp. I liked to have it scheduled to turn on and off especially if I wasnt home in the belief it might fool burglars someone was there. This is much more accurate as over time it doesnt seem to drift like the former dumb timer. Using the app was easier after having used it for a wall timer Id already installed and configured. I do not integrate these with Alexa or Google however so if thats your intent you will need to either experiment or look elsewhere for guidance. There is a lighted power button so it can be controlled manually as well. However, if used in a darkened room the backlight might be noticeable. In my case, its behind a table in the living room so partially hidden and not an issue.

I use a combination of BN, Wyze and Hue. For the price the BN stuff is great. The programming is a little bit more fussy (similar to IFTTT programming) and the timer isnt *quite* as precise, but they always work and they work well. The Hue and Wyze plugs are always in sync down to the second. The BN products always seem to be about 22-30 seconds behind - not a huge deal. But if you want everything to be perfectly in sync you might want to keep all the brands the same in your chain.

Every year I have to coordinate the timing on several different holiday interior displays. These smart plugs make that a simple matter. Heres the steps I had to take: 1) Download BN-LINK Smart app on my phone. 2) Create an account. 3) Add plug - it was detected easily with BLE and then connected to my WiFi network. 4) Open Alexa app on phone and it detected the plug and added the correct skill to allow voice control. 5) Add plug to Holiday Lights group and set up a routine to turn that group on and off at scheduled times. I was really worried about steps 4 and 5 because personal experience has shown that the Alexa integration is not always easy. However, things have progressed to the point where the BN-LINK Smart app and Alexa walk you through everything to quickly get these smart plugs up and running. Now we have everything turn on and off based on a schedule while still allowing for customized voice control - the best of both worlds. I cant think of any reason to not recommend these plugs. If you dont have Alexa theres no problem because the BN-LINK Smart app allows you to set up a schedule for each plug right in the app. Two thumbs up for how easy this whole thing was.

I have purchased these in past, they had a feature where you could monitor energy usage by day by month etc. Great feature, because of this feature (better UI in app, friendlier more thorough than Kasa brand). I buy new ones and they have been removed. 1st pic ( see energy feature on bottom right 2nd pic shows how the stats look of the energy monitor feature 3rd pic. Shows this new updated model. Has no energy monitor feature Pic 4 and 5. Kasa Smart plugs. Still has energy feature just not as thorough as bnlnk app This energy monitor feature was great. No they took it away and still charge the same. Rip off. Choose Kasa Smart plugs now. They have energy usage feature though

    Greater than one week

I have an Ikea plant cabinet with lights, fans, humidifier and another shelf of plants with plant lights. Sometimes I forget to turn them off plus the switches to turn them off were not in convenient locations. So installing these smart plugs into the wall outlet and then connecting the appliances to these plugs make it easy to turn them off and off via app. The app itself is easy to use. So I programed the app to turn on the lights at 8am and turn them off at 8pm. No more turning off the lights one by one.
