Good tool for my VW 1600 rebuild! Took practice on an old detonated cylinder to get cross hatch just right. Practice first and use oil! Itll do the job quick and well.

I have a 2005 Honda CRV that was burning one quart of oil per tank of gas. YES you did read that correctly. Car was abused before I got it, but now I have to fix it. Pulled the engine apart and found scoring on the #4 cylinder wall and a damaged piston. Replaced all 4 pistons, rings, and rod bearings. Took this hone to all the cylinder walls with a little extra in #4. All the bores came out factory perfect, except #4 which I would give a 8 out of 10. You could still see some vertical lines but it was 95% better than before. Hondas stance is do not hone, just install rings, and if you can catch a scratch with your fingernail, the block needs replacement. Well I wasnt replacing my block, so this was the next best thing. Put it all back together and the engine runs perfect. Car does not burn a drop of oil and the oil is still golden. It would be black from blowby within 500 miles before. Very pleased! and highly recommended.

I used this to Bust the glaze on a 68mm bore, in a cast steel barrel of a motorcycle engine. It worked really well - 10 - 30 SAE Oil, 1,500 RPM for a few minutes, left a very smooth set of honing lines. BUT 1: you have to REALLY take time getting th e abrasive out of the barrel after the hone. and 2) I think you may need to run the devices for longer than I did, as the scoring marks were still evident after running in the Bke.
