These are the best brushes for honing your cylinder walls. I got nice 45 degree hone marks. It works VERY fast you put your drill on low speed and try to time it so you get the right degree of marks. It leaves a TON of residue so plan on power washing your block with cleaners. 3 to 5 passes is all it takes to clean up the walls. Remember you are removing glazing not boring your cylinder wall.

Used this to hone four cylinders in a two-stroke outboard motor. Didn’t take long for the honing balls to start breaking off as they passed by the cylinder wall ports. Luckily the ball stems are plastic and didn’t damage the cylinder walls. Eventually got the job done, though, producing a nice crosshatch surface finish.

I still use this to restore my Onan p218 and p220 engines.
