Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT1000MX500SSD1

Ive updated several computers to SSD using Crucial drives and theyre my go-to drives to use. Never any issues, easy to install, and Crucuials support is excellent (web site is useful and email support is great if you need to contact them, but I rarely have to since everything always goes so smooth). Used this to update an older Macbook Pro (late 2011). Computer runs like a champ now. Will buy Crucial drives again.

This was actually a replacement. First one had issues booting up but soon as I finished a return for the original item, a replacement was on the way. Very cool.

The actual hardware seems to do exactly what its supposed to but the software which you need to download (Acronis) just didnt work. It took me all weekend to get Windows10 clones from my laptop onto the SSD. The software ran very slowly (20 minutes between setting options is not an exageration. Thats if it will actually let you select anything when it finally displayed. Almost everyone now charges for the version of their software which will do cloning or you need to be an IT pro to use them; create bootable USB, change bios settings, etc. I am an IT pro and didnt want to go to all the trouble. The one time I did manage to get the software to appear as if it was performing the clone process it restarted my machine before finishing (after a few hours) and the drive wouldnt boot. I reinstalled several times in case the install had somehow gone wrong (including downloading the software again) and nothing changed, it still didnt work.

Comes with nothing not even mounting screws. “Tool free” indeed.

Upgraded my fathers spinning 2.5 HDD with this SSD to extend the life of a budget laptop. Its a dramatic improvement of performance, and so far ( 6months?) has been a reliable device. See SSD UserBenchmarks site for comparison between this and other units. Id never choose this over the more expensive, and higher performing Samsung for a main computing desktop or anything, but it suits my cost/value application very well. This is a well reviewed and popular SSD, and I wouldnt hesitate to use it again if the application comes up.

These are my go to drives for when people ask me to fix their slow laptop or desktop. Sometimes I clone the drive or just do a fresh build for them. Havent had a failure or DOA as of yet. Not as fast as an NVME drive but it will breathe some life into a slow laptop or pc thats been running a platter based disk drive.

Just keep in mind that the actual formatted capacity for the 1TB version is 920GB
