> 3 dayI purchased this SSD to put in a portable M.2 case so I could have some additional portable storage. I dont get full speeds b/c of the case I purchased but they are still more than acceptable (1500 MB read/write). Once the prices come down for USB4/Thunderbolt cases I will upgrade and increase the rest of the speed of this drive. I havent had any issues with the drive at all. I chose this drive b/c I have had a great experience with Crucial drives in the past.

Greater than one weekInstallation goes easily if you are prepared. Do your homework, look for the best videos (lots of junk out there). Recognize what even the best videos gloss over and research those vague areas. Have a safe place to put all screws, neat workspace, good lighting. Get a caddy for copying over your old drive to the new one, so when you replace the old one you can use it in the caddy as an external SSD. Study how the copying process must be adapted to partitioning the old drive to its full available size. I love having a huge C drive, ended all my anxieties about the steady decrease in available space. Several computations now go much faster when they use the C drive for application data. Worth the investment and cheaper than buying a new laptop.

Greater than one weekBought this drive as a fast access storage drive for video games that require a lot of disk use. At time of review I’ve had it in use for 6 months, great speed and reliability so far. This is my first crucial purchase and I’d definitely do it again.

> 3 dayI did manage to grab the 1TB version for a really good price. For the price, it performs really well as you can see from the Crystal Disk Mark screenshot. I did install an EK heatsink on the drive, and the drive doesnt go above 54C when moving large chunk of data or benchmarking the drive. I would definitely grab another one soon !

> 3 dayThe physical installation of the SSD 1TB was very straightforward enough. However the cloning of the drive and installation as the main drive in a laptop with only 1 available PCIe slot was not as clearly to do. Unlike the many other possible computer configurations that are clearly outlined with the numerous easy to follow videos. My HP 15-ef1003ds laptop required 1 part more reading, 2 parts more of watching videos and 7 parts more guess work, in order to get it running as my primary drive. But in the end it was well worth the extra effort because with the included software that was free I now have faster laptop with a larger capacity drive all at a very reasonable price. And thanks to crucials compatibility program I didnt waste 5 days to only realize that it wasnt going to work for me and instead in under 2 hours I now have what I wanted. You can be sure that when I am ready to upgrade the memory from its current 8gb to its max of 32gb I will be buying crucials 32gb kit without a second of hesitation.

> 3 dayOne of the first things to know about the Crucial P5 NVMe drive is that Crucial is made by Micron (of Idaho), one of the leading memory chip makers in the world. Theyve been a consistent top performer for decades. Most of all, unlike other brands, you can know that all Crucial products consistently use Micron chips, so you can expect consistent, high performance results. (Brands switching the chips in their SSDs is an industry problem at the time of this writing) The P5 drive - the top performer in their line - is designed for gaming, number crunching, video and other workstation tasks, so it was an easy choice for my system that would be doing all of that. And it didnt disappoint. The build quality is excellent. It installed easily and has performed without a hitch since Day One. If youre coming from anything less than a different high performance NVMe (and there are a couple of solid competitors), you WILL notice the zippy load times and data transfer times. Another nice feature - likely because Crucial is using their own chips - is that the price is very good for the size and performance of the drive. It isnt dirt cheap, but it can be less than equally performing NVMe drives from big-name competitors. Personally, I bundled this with Ballistix RAM and have been very, very pleased with the flawless performance.

> 3 daysuper fast and with space to spare. I got it mainly to remove the mechanical drive, as i had a 512GB SSD which i replaced with this, and because it is PCI express while my old ssd is sata

> 3 dayI didnt have the screw and it didnt come with one when I purchased the ssd. They could include the screw and charge 30 cents for it. Overall does the job.

> 3 dayIf you already have a SATA SSD, this drive isnt going to blow you away, especially for games. The scenarios where you will see the most benefit are from sequential transactions such as reading and writing large files. You will get a noticeable improvement all around, but the difference will be minor. Also, no screws are included. I dont see why they couldnt include at least one screw and standoff. I had to buy a mounting set because my motherboard didnt come with any.

> 3 dayThis is a very fast and reliable SSD, but be aware it runs hot. IMO a heatsink should be included with this drive, because it gets very toasty in normal day-to-day operation. I bought a cheap heatsink for 10 bucks and now it runs dramatically cooler. Ive owned it for about a year now and have had zero issues. Solid buy recommendation assuming you have a heatsink.
