> 3 dayThe installation was easier than I expected, but I was not able to get the downloadable Acronis True Image software for Crucial to recognize the new drive while I was cloning the old SSD to the Crucial (I was using the Crucial in an external sidecar enclosure). I downloaded a freeware cloning software package that took care of that problem. Other than that, its currently in my Dell XPS 8920 and performing without any problems.

18-04-2025This product is just overall really good for its price. You can always get more speed and memory if you pay more, but Id say this was priced well during a sale. This boots up faster than my SSD which is an upgrade, but so far there isnt really much to say on this other than its really good so far.

> 3 dayI dont use this for gaming, but I do a lot of engineering drawing work and video editing. It is really nice to have the extra space for work, and the extra speed. I never needed support - just drop it into the slot, tighten the screws, and set up the drive.

> 3 dayThere are two NVME slots in my laptop and this drive disappears randomly when installed in either slot. It is only 3 months old and used for mostly static storage not a boot drive. My other off-brand Inland SSD works fine installed in either slot. So much for brand name drives being more reliable. At least, when it works, the data is accessible and it is decently fast. Now it is time to find out how good or bad the warranty support is for a nearly $200 drive with a random hard to diagnose problem.

> 3 dayLove the speed and it bolted in easily once I found the screws. The issue I ran into will be specific to folks running a Asus B450 ROG board with LED lighting, or possibly any machine running the Lighting Service in Windows. Once I installed the drive and attempted to boot Windows (from another drive with this one installed) I got a BSOD and no boot. I knew this was due to the new drive, but the BSOD was non-specific. I found on Reddit that someone tried disabling the Lighting Service in services.msc. This worked for me from Safe Mode and allowed Windows to boot normally. I hope this helps someone else with a similar setup or issue.

> 3 dayA good deal if you have an older motherboard with an M.2 spot. Newer motherboards will benefit more from newer, more expensive M.2 drives. See if you have a screw in or included with your PC. Theyre not cheap or easy to find.

> 3 dayVery fast! Replacing an SSd can be tricky - the cloning software provided worked, but resulted in two drives since the Crucial was twice the size of the original. It was easier for me to backup my system to a memory stick, replace the SSD with the new Crucial and then restore the system from the memory stick.

> 3 dayI have installed the Crucial PD M.2 SSD in 2 machines. Before, I was booting from fast SSDs, however the speed after replacing with these is amazing. They are very easy to install, and going to Crucial website - you can get the free software to clone the original drive. They also have software to manage the M.2, which makes it faster and more efficient. Some sites say you need to set the M.2 up as an external, to clone the original - I did not. I installed the M.2 drive in its slot, booted the machines regularly, and downloaded then ran the software. It setup the partitions to the size I selected (larger than the original drive in one case). It formatted the partition, cloned the software, and made it bootable. When it was done, I removed the original SSD to save as a backup. I rebooted with the P5 M.2, downloaded the management software, checked everything, and it works. The boot time is not much better, because the original SSDs I had were very fast, anyway, and it is a function of the peripherals such as connecting to the network. But, the machines are now incredibly fast at all of the other operations with the P5 M.2 drives. The only problem - - is that the screws to hold down the M.2 is not included. In my cases - the screws were different sizes for my 2 machines. It took me way more time scrounging for the correct hold down screws than the rest of their installation. If you want to know if I would recommend this - I will say, if your machine has a M.2 drive slot, and youre not using it for a boot drive - YES!

> 3 dayI use this plainly just for more reliable storage and it does exactly what I expect it to do. There is nothing wrong with this product, remember to initiate the drive in Windows with Disk Manager to assign the SSD a drive letter and such.
