> 24 hourIf you have devices that can actually use this amount of speed then its def worth the price. I had a few GB speed devices on the network at home and wanted something to help them achieve their full potential. Boom. There comes the new switch. I had to switch my cables to CAT6 since CAT5e doesnt quite allow for the GB speed but that was pretty cheap too (check monoprice.com). Totally worth it. The little guy is tiny (just big enough for 8 ports wide across teh back plus a little extra) and super light. It is wall mountable which is convenient for some. The sheer fact that you are still reading and havent already clicked Add To Cart is shockingly mind boggling. Stop reading. Now. Seriously. This is getting ridiculous. Just buy it and be happy.

> 24 hourI bought this product sometime after Jan 2013 and I just days ago (June 2013) bought another from another vendor due to need of use from a customer of mine. I love this product due to ease of use, just connect cables and devices and let the system do the rest. Works with Windows and / or Linux operating systems. Could not be any better. I will buy another for myself when I need to expand home network system again.

> 24 hourI needed at least one more ethernet port; the D-LInk works like a charm, was fairly inexpensive, and was easy to set up.

> 24 hourIts a switch, not a router. It does exactly what a switch is supposed to do. If you dont know what a switch does, you probably dont want this. The reason I bought this (and a D-Link DES-1105) was to replace another DGS-1008G and DES-1105 that both failed due to a power surge. Not too surprising since the surge also knocked out quite a few other devices. Unfortunately these BOTH failed about three weeks later during another storm, but this time nothing else was affected. (They were both plugged into UPS/surge protectors both times.) So yes theyre cheap and almost disposable, but this time I think Ill spend a bit more for something a little more reliable.

> 24 hourThe D-Link DGS-1008G 8-Port switch is a great addition for those looking to increase the number of ports is a particular location. I use this switch is my office where I have Cat 6 cable link to my D-Link Router which also switches at 1 GB. The switch is easy to setup (connect ports and plug in). It correctly identified the connections as either 100 MB (yellow LED) or 1 GB (green LED). The switch serves two computers, a network printer, a VOIP phone, and an HD Slingplayer. All work great. Pros: Installation is very easy LED indication of connection type and activity LEDs are dim ( I prefer this as it is less of a distraction) Cons: While the shape is attractive. The airfoil design and the LEDs being on the top do not allow for easy stacking.

> 24 hourWorks fine. With amazon basic cat6 cords could only fit 5 plugs out of 8 at a time. Plugs are to close together. Ended up buying a Tp link 8. Than got into needing more with TP-Link 16 gigabit.
