Just bought and set this up a couple days ago. It just works! I plugged all my computers (four of them) into this switcher and then had to hunt up a cable to go from the switcher to my router. Lo and behold, it can use either a straight-thru or a crossover cable....which means I didnt even have to think at all, I just grabbed a cable out of my left-overs box and it worked! And the router-to-switcher cable can be plugged into any of the 8 identical ports...again, it means no thought required. I like not having one more thing to try to remember for when I change things down the road. This thing is as complex as an outlet bar. I like simple! My minimal testing shows this switcher speeds up my apparent internet connection by 10%. I attribute that to it just regulating the traffic between my four computers better than my router. Plug-and-play is ok!

great switch. its very stylish and uses little power for all the people tight wadding over their electric bill. It switches fast and auto detect mb and gigabit connections. lights are dim, may or may not be a deal breaker. its a simple plug and play switch, would purchase again.

I recently purchased this switch. I have 3 PCs at my desk and the switch allows me to use my production PC, development PC and testplatform PC through one connection. The speed is great and it was a simple plug and play to get it working. I would highly recommend this as the GB speed and price are great!

I use the 8-port switch in my home theater setup. The switch is much smaller than I thought it would be (see additional pictures), and it has a more stylish shape that blends well with my other home theater equipment. Pros: Compact, pleasant shape Very lightweight but sturdy enough for regular normal handling Operates cool to the touch, no discernable temp difference from surroundings--great for my enclosed media center LEDs are on the front top, so they are not noticeable when viewed from a distance--great for a theater room LEDs are not too bright, also ideal for a media room LED color indicates connection speed (gigabit or fast ethernet) The ports are not shrouded in any way, so theres plenty of room to connect and disconnect ethernet cords The wall wart is the half-size thinner type Cons: Its plenty sturdy for normal handling, but it is certainly lightweight. It moves around rather easily, if youd consider that a con.

I love Dlink products. I needed more places to plug ether net cables in, so I bought this and it works perfectly

Not worth the money, always hangs up, have to reset too much.... Updated and worked with vendor, got frustrated and sold it at flea market for 10 bucks, stay away....

My home network is mainly dlink components. I recently needed to add a switch and selected the 8 port giga dlink switch. This has proven to be easy, fast and reliable. Very pleased with the performance I am getting through the switch. I have a combination of VOIP, video (HD), and other standard traffic going through this device and it handles it fine. Strongly recommend dlink products. -JohnN Choose, bid and save! Join the fun at [...]!
