> 3 dayThis is the first gigabit-speed consumer-grade switch that Im able to obtain near-full gigabit speeds on. My transfer speeds skyrocketed as soon as this switch came on line, in comparison to the NetGear GS608NA device I had in its place before. I own two Buffalo NAS devices - a 3TB and a 6TB - and the download speed jumped from 35MBps-40MBps (MegaByte) to north of 75MBps - thats higher than the devices advertised top speeds! The upload speed also jumped to above 50MBps from around 20MBps. All in all - if youre looking for a consumer-grade, FAST switch, you need search no longer! I did not do scientific comparisons between the two, but I guided my purchase based on someone elses review in which the reviewer posted a more methodical analysis. Im happy to say, he wasnt full of it!

> 3 dayPurchased in Nov 2011 and wanted to have it running 24/7 for almost 1/2 a year now before passing review. Purchased to replace my old switch (Cisco-Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch) in the living room that had alot of dropped connections and slow connections for my PS3/XBOX/Boxee Box/D-link DNS-320 sharecenter setup to watch internet TV shows and stream downloaded videos on my Tv in the living room, particularly network intensive 1080p videos peaking at 7-10MB/s throughput and this new D-link works perfectly (read: I have forgotten it is already there as I have not had to tinker with it every week as with my old Linksys!). Highly recommended for extending from your primary internet router to connect many video intensive devices!

> 3 dayMy old D-Link 8-port switch was another casualty to the lightning strike. This was smaller and lighter than the old switch, albeit the ports a bit closer together. Took off a star because if you wall mount it the manufacturers name and the port numbers are upside - down! (No you cant mount it the other way, they are keyhole mounting slots and hence have a definite up and down orientation!)

> 3 dayMost switches have the ports in front and that makes sense for a rack or a stack of equipment. But, a switch on my desk with a bunch of cables coming out the front is ugly. And, I dont want to have the switch on the floor as that is a pain to deal with. I also need to see if an item has network activity, so the lights are on the front. And, those lights are not super bright, like some of the Netgear and other switches. Watching a TV show on my PC does not have to compete with a flickering light show from the streaming. So, this is perfect for someone who wants a switch that just works without any fuss, just plug your stuff in and go.
