12-06-2025Works amazingly as a att wifi gateway delete solution. Have yet to lose any connection and that says alot. For my purpose.. if I lose connection or power I would have to reaunthenicate with my router and that would be time consuming. Has been pushing effortlessly for a few weeks now with zero issues.

> 3 dayI have two of these on the LAN. They are rock solid and support most standards you will need in the home. Network speed tests are much improved since replacing lesser switches with these. Bonus - The display is on the top of the device. This works out better for viewing than those that display on the front.

Greater than one weekMy office was wired for E-Net years ago, and today, weve run out of wall ports for all the gadgets we have...scanners, photocopiers, printers, and computers that we need to have on our small office network. This little D-Link expands one wall port into 4 or more for the stuff. As long as youre not pushing a lot of pixels around the network at the time (like video conferencing or working on huge digital media files) youll be fine to use it like we have. We just plugged the D-Link into a wall port, and then plugged the printers, fax, photocopier, scanner, etc. into the D-Link switch, and everything became discoverable on the network. Nice, because we can reach these devices from anywhere on the network.

> 3 dayI use the 8-port switch in my home theater setup. The switch is much smaller than I thought it would be (see additional pictures), and it has a more stylish shape that blends well with my other home theater equipment. Pros: Compact, pleasant shape Very lightweight but sturdy enough for regular normal handling Operates cool to the touch, no discernable temp difference from surroundings--great for my enclosed media center LEDs are on the front top, so they are not noticeable when viewed from a distance--great for a theater room LEDs are not too bright, also ideal for a media room LED color indicates connection speed (gigabit or fast ethernet) The ports are not shrouded in any way, so theres plenty of room to connect and disconnect ethernet cords The wall wart is the half-size thinner type Cons: Its plenty sturdy for normal handling, but it is certainly lightweight. It moves around rather easily, if youd consider that a con.

> 3 dayPlug and play, worked right out of the box with no issues. This unit is the primary switch that is connected directly to my DSL router and from which 2 TrendNet Gigabit switches in other areas of the house connect. This one does seem about 1.5 times faster than the TrendNet ones. I have not setup and do not use jumbo frames. The throughput on Gigabit seems only limited to the hardware I am using, maxing out at 52 MBps per windows explorer. Its not as slim as the TrendNet unit and the drawback that I have is that its mounted on the back of a cabinet, which makes visibility to the activity lights on the top impossible (since they are facing the wall). I have not noticed is making any sounds at all and it stays quite cool as well.

> 3 dayThis switch works very well. However, you do need to understand networking principles when connecting it and your network or you will have issues with devices seeing each other, etc. It took me a couple tries and some close reading to understand why some devices werent seeing each other

> 3 dayThis is just what I needed for the right price. I got this for my computer originally - Very happy! However I realized that I need another for my stereo setup with network receiver, u-verse box & extender, smart tv, xbox, blu-ray & dvd players - I need more ports than what U-verse box has (4). Its amazing how many devices have ethernet ports now and wireless doesnt really cut it for those items since they are high demand devices. You really need to think about how many pieces you have. Get Cat 7 cables too, it really does help!
