> 24 hourWe broke apart a set of shims from the pack and stacked them behind the lower hinge of a steel entry door. Install was really easy: we loosened the screws and the shims slipped behind the hinge just fine. The only thing was trying to watch that our fingers didnt get pinched between the hinge and frame because you have to push the shims in so they dont show. Its been a month and the gap is still gone and the shims seem to be doing just fine with the weight of the door.

> 24 hourWould recommend these over the cheap wedge shims. These fit perfectly behind the hinge and slide perfectly against the screw holes so they’re invisible when installed.

> 24 hourI had a door that was sagging slightly. I checked the screws and they were tight. I considered using the trick of bending the hinges, but this is an outdoor door with thick 4 hinges. I came across the E-Z Shims while looking for solutions and decided to give them a try. They arrived quickly. I just loosened the screws to the bottom and middle hinge. I started with the bottom hinge and added 3 shims, or 3/16. I then added two shims in the middle hinge. They slid right in place. I then tightened the screws and there was no more sag and the door shut properly! It took all of 20 minutes and a very small investment to solve my problem!

> 24 hourThe shims worked well to align a heavy metal-clad front door that was sagging. The deadbolt was striking the plate instead of going into the bore, and the whole door had to be muscled up in order to lock it. One issue that I had to work around was that a single shim was not enough to align the door, and with two shims the door would not close. The instructions do not have any mention of this, however if two shims are arranged fully overlapped facing each other with ribbed side being in contact, and the corners of the one that is facing outward are trimmed to fit the indentation in the door jamb, they adjust the door by ~3/32 that was just enough to do the trick in my case. Note that the shims that I received had a 3/4 depth cutouts for the bolts that can be seen in the multi-pack listing for this product.

> 24 hourMy door was out of alignment causing the deadbolt to miss the hole unless we lifted on the doorknob while turning the bolt. I tried shimming the bottom hinge but it did not eliminate the problem. Plugging and redrilling holes for the hinge plate screws and using 3 screws, especially in securing the upper hinge to the frame, ended up doing the trick. If, though, you have a gap between the door and the frame on the knob side, these shims are the perfect solution.

> 24 hourThese shims worked well for me but it is first important to understand where to properly place door hinge shims. Depending on the problem you are trying to solve, in some cases a shim should be placed under either the barrel side of the hinge or under the opposite side. Also, hinge shims may need to be placed under all of the hinges or only need to be placed under one hinge. I also had to trim one of the shims (which was easily done) due to the shape of my hinges. The information that was included with the shims did not cover any of this but there is good information available on-line regarding door shimming.

> 24 hourYou can make your own shims, or just loosen the hinge, slide one of these in, tighten screws. 5 minutes tops, and my door shuts properly again. Worth every penny!
