> 3 dayFront door was not plumb and had a gap at the bottom of about 3/8ths of an inch. Three issues: 1) the existing screws would not be long enough to secure the door into the jamb, 2) the shims were not the same width as the hinge, so there would be a rocker effect as the door opened and closed, 3) a 3/8 inch shim at the hinge side would be pretty ugly. So I will probably cut a tapered piece of wood to put on the jamb on the opposite side. Note these would probably work well for a smaller gap, however hinge screws are set into the jamb and shimming a hinge even 1/16th of an inch prevents the existing screws from setting as deep. There are 2.5/3 inch screws available specifically for this purpose.

> 3 dayLove these. Found out my door installer had use plain cardboard to shim a door, and it was sagging out of true. These were super easy to install, fit exactly, and the door now closes better than ever!

> 3 dayI bought a new house and very soon the front door starting sticking and would not stay shut unless it was locked. It had been installed by what is laughingly called professionals. I placed two shims behind the bottom hinge, one behind the next hinge up and none behind the top two hinges. Now the door opens easily and latches easily. Too bad the professionals dont know how to hang doors, but luckily the shims are available to home owners so we can fix the shoddy workmenship.

> 3 dayUsed this shim to help get exterior back door on my 22 year old home to close and lock again. Door frame suffered from foundation settling. Fit was perfect for the hinge and shim was easy to install in top door hinge. Had to adjust strike plate on the door also, but the shim helped solve part of the issue. Would recommend this product.

> 3 dayI replaced the hinges on one of our doors (wife wanted bronze instead of brushed nickle hardware), but found that after I replaced the old hinges the door was about a 1/4 gap on the latch side, and no gap on the hinge side. This left a bit of an air gap and also made the door not close well. These shims were a great solution, since they are 1/16 thick I installed two of them under each hinge attached to the frame to shift the door to the latch side 1/8. Now there is an even 1/8 gap on both sides as shown in the image (I meant to take a before image too, but it slipped my mind, sorry!). Another option is to use cardboard, but its difficult to measure how much a cardboard shim will actually shift the door. And they may not hold up as well over time. These are much better, and they are the perfect shape which makes them easy to install: Just loosen up the hinge hardware, and slide the shim in (if necessary poke it to the required depth using something really thin like a razor or another shim). Then re-tighten the hardware and youre all set! I recommend making sure you have long enough screws in whatever place you install these shims. A lot of hinges come with short screws, but you really want to have ~3 screws going into your door frame so that they are able to grab the actual frame of the door and not just the trim (and make sure to pre-drill too, so you dont split the wood). This will make the door much more sturdy and harder to kick-in as well.
