21-11-2024Best sounding bookshelf I have ever had.The only ones I ever had were Bose 901’s which I paid $1,300 for.I got these speakers for less than $300.00.These speakers have a rich sound and plenty of punch.I don’t think you will find any bookshelf speaker that performs any better for less than$300.00.

> 3 dayMan, are these good speakers. Every time I listen to them I find something new to appreciate, even in songs I’ve listened to a thousand times. I use them in a pretty small room (they could handle way more) running off a cheap class d amp and Ifi zen dac. The soundstage is just delightful. You don’t necessarily need it, but if it’s in your budget, add a little sub (I’ve got the 10” from elac) and you’ll have a really fun time.

> 3 dayI added a pair of these ELAC bookshelf speakers as surrounds to a home theater built around a Denon Atmos receiver, Pioneer Elite Atmos front and center speakers also designed by Andrew Jones, and two SVS subs. They fit the bill for surround speakers perfectly where some other bookshelf speakers I considered would not (e.g. lower quality, lower power handling and bass extension etcetera). In a perfect world, ELAC would offer these speakers at their current price with a bit more refined look. Personally I think they look great, but they can definitely raise an eyebrow if you are sensitive to how bookshelf speakers will blend into non-AV decor. (For stands, take a look at the 28 stands made by Rockville and sold on Amazon. Their top platforms are perfect for the 5 and 6.5 ELAC Debut bookshelves.)

> 3 dayI want to preface this by noting that I paid <$250 for my pair. Currently, they are listing for $300+ and you have TONS of options in that price range. Overall, I love these little beauties. I currently live in a small apartment and needed something appropriate for the space. These fit the bill. Not sure Id call em bright, but I do have the bass on my chi-fi amp turned up a smidge to warm them up. There can be a clinical aspect to the sound sometimes, I wont deny that. But at the price I paid, and given the rock-solid build quality, these are great. I may replace them with some wharfedales at some point, partially just to try something else, maybe see if I cant warm things up. Cant stress the source enough; playing mp3s through the bluetooth is fine but cranking some Floyd via CD really wakes up these pups. They are rockers and would pair well with a sub, Id think. I should stress that these are currently driven with a cheap class D Fosi amp. Id love to hear them through a quality class a/b amp, I just dont have the space.

> 3 dayI purchased these ELAC Debut 2.0 B5.2 Bookshelf Speakers over a month ago, so there has been time for them to break in. I started them with an old Pioneer VSX-502 that died soon after I purchased these speakers. The sound with that receiver was good but really didnt give credence to the speakers. I soon upgraded (updated) to the Onkyo TX-SR373 5.2 receiver. The speakers came to life and became quite musical. I am no audiophile, but the speakers sound clear and crisp. My only reference has been my old Polk RT55i/RT35i speakers which were smooth, warm and detailed. The ELACs are quite detailed in the highs. They are clean and not as forgiving with MP3 or Spotify normal download in the lack of detail. They are also great in their lower frequency extension for 5.25 speakers. Cant measure how low, but they dont struggle with lower midbass. It was a gamble purchasing them without hearing them. They are worth the money. One complaint though, they are quite large for bookshelf application. The cabinet shape and finish is quite bland. I suppose the sound quality makes up for these short comings.
