> 3 dayYeah, I know there are outdoor rated Z-Wave AC sockets but all I see are in a cord dongle which isnt what I want. Seems most all Z-Wave products arent rated below freezing. My tractor shed isnt heated so Im going to find out if this works anyway. Be nice to be able to turn on the tractor engine block heater remotely before going out snow plowing...

> 3 dayI have used these with Wink and now a Hubitat hub. They work well and are reliable. If you have some handyman skills and your house wiring is up-to-date, you can install these yourself in about 15 minutes or so.

> 3 dayBought this to use with Smartthings (v2 hub) and the Christmas tree. I wanted to be able to schedule when the tree lights were on and off. Works well. Tip - when having Smartthings discover the switch, keep on pressing the button on the outlet on and off until it recognizes it.

> 3 dayI am not an electrician but I know a bit about electricity. For one thing, I know that, for safety, you really need a good grounded outlet. Also, you need a firm connection on all of the wires to the receptacle. I did not get a good feel on either of the above. It seems cheaply designed and made. I really struggled to get the ground wire to fit the device at all. I am not convinced that it is a good ground. The hot and neutral wires were easier but there are no terminals to wrap the wires around and no screws to tighten the connection. You just push the wires into a hole and tighten a screw to apply more pressure to the wire. I am not convinced that this is safe or reliable. If I start having flickering lights on that part of the house, this thing is going to taken out and junked. But, so far -- so good. On the good side --- it actually does work and it is nice to have an LED to indicate that the controlled outlet is ON. I paired it with my SmartThings hub and that was pretty much idiot-proof. I have only had it installed a day so I have no ideal about reliability. If it is not good, I will downgrade this review to ONE star. I thought that this would be a good outlet but I am sure that there are better choices for the money. I think that I will start using the smart outlets that simply plug in to the existing receptacle. Less hassle, possibly safer and less money.

> 3 dayPackaging was fine, installation was easy enough and it pairs up with an add on Z-Wave hub and Home Assistant easily enough. However, they dont really advertise that only the bottom plug is smart and the top one always on. Looking back after I bought it it wasnt really described in the regular description which feels pretty misleading thus the 3-star rating. If I had known it was only going to be half smart I would have probably just gotten a cheaper single outlet addon plug instead.

> 3 dayPlaced this near SmartThings hub. Install is very easy. Before it died (at about year 3) it worked most of time time. Periodically it would not sync properly with my hub and would seem to go missing. Factory reset and rejoining to hub would fix that issue. I will no longer deploy in-wall smart outlets, Id rather just use the more reliable and cheaper smart plugs that seem to be very reliable.

> 3 dayBought this act as a z-wave repeater / extender and extra smart device for controlling a security light. Found it easy to fit and link to our Smarthings hub, and it has helped to stabilised comms with some of our outlying smart devices. Setting up the app was a breeze.

Greater than one weekIve got about a dozen of these 55256 receptacles in my business. Every single one has failed at least once, and I just finished replacing three more that failed as of last week. (08/10/21) These 55256 receptacles last about 1 year before they internal relay fails and they start randomly clicking and fail to respond to Zwave commands. E-mail sent to GE/Jasco about replacement of failed outlets is never answered. Over the last 5 years I have collected enough of these failed 55256 Z-Wave Plus Smart Receptacles to fill a standard pillowcase halfway, and that will come in handy should I ever encounter a Jasco IoT engineer in the real world. If youre given the choice between buying a 55256 receptacle and hitting yourself in the hand with a brick. Find a nice brick.

Greater than one weekGreat smart plug! Integrated with my smart things hub seamlessly. I use it to power a pair of outdoor Bluetooth speakers. Only complaint is I didn’t realize it on had a singe smart plug built into the outlet, where the other one is always on.
