> 3 dayThis cooler doubles as a dry box so keep that in mind. If you’re wanting to maximize insulation and ice longevity this may not be you best choice. I did a test with a similar sized Igloo brand (16qt) with this Engel (19qt). The Igloo is about half the cost. The Igloo has thicker sides and this a bit more insulation. In three different test using frozen water bottles of the same capacity, the bottles in the Engel fully thawed before the bottles in the Igloo. Same environment and temperatures with coolers side by side. It wasn’t dramatic, just the bottles in the Igloo had some ice left 1-3 hours after the bottles in the Engel were fully thawed. That was a little disappointing. Having said that, the frozen bottles in both lasted almost 36 hours and I expect the cooler filled with ice would hold longer than a couple loose frozen bottles with all the space around them. I’m going to keep the cooler because it is well made and I can use it for a dry box. I bought it for day trips in my small boat so it will work well for that. Would also be great for day trips to the beach, overnight trips, picnics etc when you don’t want to lug a large heavy cooler. But if that’s all you need and if you just want a cooler, save some money and get a much cheaper Igloo 16qt. as you gain nothing and lose something buying the Engel including twice the cost. I gave four stars for well built.

Greater than one weekMy husband uses this for a lunch box (a big lunch box) underground in the coal mines. In this cooler he fits 6 gatorade bottles, 1 regular sized water bottle, 4 cans of pop, lunch items, a boxy underground cellphone/pager, and a tray(it comes with the cooler) the tray fits perfectly in the top of the cooler. The latches work perfectly! We have no complaints!

> 3 dayI really like this cooler, Ive been taking it to work 5 days a week for about 7 weeks now and I sit on it all the time. Its very sturdy and well built I only knocked it a star because I think the handle could be more comfortable. It kept things really cold all day on very hot days and ice packs were still icy when I forgot the cooler in the truck overnight a couple of times. It also came with a bunch of swag like the large sticker in the picture and contact brochures for parts like rod holders, stainless hinges(my next upgrade), seat pads, and more carry strap options. Its cool people and it dont set you back what a Yeti will.

> 3 dayI bought this as a replacement for my husbands last one that he used every day for the last 5 or so years. Held up like a champ until the bitter end. He used it as a lunch box during the week and a drink cooler for the boat on the weekends. Engal will always be our brand because of how well theyve held up to our abuse for the last 5 years.

> 3 dayMy mother-in-law bought this for my husband and he’s very happy. It’s very sturdy and easy to clean. It’s large enough to fit Tupperware glass dishes and a small chunk of water.

> 3 dayNice lunchbox. Like the fact that there is replacement hinges and latches. Did happen to drop a drill on the lid and crack it. Overall happy with it

> 3 dayAll the guys as work (construction) have these so I figured it had to be good. The box is big enough to fit a 12hr shift worth of food, but lite enough to carry the 1/4 mile walk from the parking lot to the site. I’ve only been using it for about a month but so far it seems well worth the price.

> 3 dayIf you just plan to use this on a day trip, or will have access to someplace you can buy ice regularly while out this is great. It just doesnt hold ice for that long. After about 24 hours outside 3/4 of the ice was melted. Was hoping it would be better than that.

> 3 dayI was looking to replace my everyday use, 8 year old Igloo cooler with one that was just as good or better than the igloo, a locking top was a must, this cooler fit the bill, about the same size as the $25.00 igloo, I have filled the Igloo cooler with the same drinks, lunch and snacks for over 8 years, this Engel cooler melts the ice in half the time, my gauge is, I use 6 trays of ice and the same amount and temp of drinks and half way through the day the ice melted, the Igloo lasted until I arrived home, some 4 hours later, I was surprised and disappointed.
