> 3 dayThis is great day cooler! it is perfect size to strap to the back of my 9 foot fishcat cataraft. I also keep in the captains bay on my 16 foot Cataraft for day trips to keep my beverage cool. It fits perfect in my captains bay. It also can be used as dry box / captain boxes. I will be purchasing another!

> 3 dayI work on the railroad and coolers get beat to hell on and off trains. This cooler has been great, its the perfect size (19 qt) and shape to stuff places and fit enough food in case Im away from home for 2 or 3 days. The only down side is the hinges but those cane be replaced and I added a catch wire so the lid doest fall back too far when opening. It holds cold fairly well. Prechilled I usually get a solid 24 hours of frozen ice packs. Would buy again.

Greater than one weekThis is an honest review for people like me who want to use this as a cooler. I will try to be as factual as possible. I bought it for a 3 day canoe trip. I didnt expect this cooler to hold ice for 3 days, but I wanted the water tight seal. I have no doubt this cooler/drybox works fantastic as a dry box or lunch box. But as a cooler its very OK. I placed four 9x10 freezer packs inside of it. Basically it filled the cooler. After an hour or so, I touched the cooler on the outside and felt that it was very cold. I picked it up and the floor it was sitting on was cold as well. Not good because the cold was getting through the insulation. I left it overnight in my dining room (4pm - 10am). When I woke up I checked the cooler and the freezer packs were liquid. This was in winter so my house was 68-70 degrees (Florida). The quality is still good and overall I really like it, but to call it a cooler is a bit of a stretch. I lined the dry box with 1 styrofoam and repeated my experiment... the freezer packs are still half frozen after 29hrs. Despite its lack of insulation, I feel its a good, quality product.

> 3 dayThis cooler doubles as a dry box so keep that in mind. If you’re wanting to maximize insulation and ice longevity this may not be you best choice. I did a test with a similar sized Igloo brand (16qt) with this Engel (19qt). The Igloo is about half the cost. The Igloo has thicker sides and this a bit more insulation. In three different test using frozen water bottles of the same capacity, the bottles in the Engel fully thawed before the bottles in the Igloo. Same environment and temperatures with coolers side by side. It wasn’t dramatic, just the bottles in the Igloo had some ice left 1-3 hours after the bottles in the Engel were fully thawed. That was a little disappointing. Having said that, the frozen bottles in both lasted almost 36 hours and I expect the cooler filled with ice would hold longer than a couple loose frozen bottles with all the space around them. I’m going to keep the cooler because it is well made and I can use it for a dry box. I bought it for day trips in my small boat so it will work well for that. Would also be great for day trips to the beach, overnight trips, picnics etc when you don’t want to lug a large heavy cooler. But if that’s all you need and if you just want a cooler, save some money and get a much cheaper Igloo 16qt. as you gain nothing and lose something buying the Engel including twice the cost. I gave four stars for well built.

Greater than one weekI purchased 2 of these for my sons for Christmas. One works in the underground mines and one is an apprentice at a machine shop. They requested this brand cooler. The quality and durability seems to be good. Only time will tell. Ill come back and editor needed!

> 3 dayI use this for lunch at work. Purchased last Summer, handle was broke a few months ago. As much as they charge for these things you think they could use something other than cheap plastic handles and cheap plastic buckles. Lunch ended up on the sidewalk when walking into work after the plastic buckle broke in half. I suggest buying the similar Klein cooler.
