This is a good cooler if youre looking for a lunch box to take back and forth to work. It will keep things cold for about a day. It holds two levels of 12 standard beer cans, or a case. The handle seems pretty durable. Ive only been using it for about a month now though. It comes with a nylon strap that can be very helpful. The front metal latching system is very quick and easy to use when you want to open and close the cooler a lot. This was one of the reasons I bought it. If you are looking for a cooler about this size to keep things iced or really cold for more than a day I would go with an RTIC or YETI. The coolers with the zippers are a huge pain I have found. They do keep things very cold for very long though. I dont think this cooler is worth the $60. I would be a lot happier if it was $10-$20 less.

I purchased this cooler to keep things cold for a few hours while traveling, but I was pleasantly surprised by how long it it retained ice. I tried it for the first time on a day when the high was just over 90 degrees. I loaded it with a chilled twelve pack. Unfortunately, the ice I bought that day had just been bagged and placed in a freezer, so it was wet and melting quickly on the short ride home. There was already a significant amount of water in the ice bag when I poured the ice in the cooler, so I figured it wouldnt last more than 6 or 8 hours even though it was in the shade. However, after opening and closing the cooler throughout the afternoon as well as a few times the next morning to see if it was still cold, it still had ice in it after 17 hours. With colder ice, I have no doubt the ice would have lasted close to 24 hours. If youre thinking this will hold ice as long as a Yeti 20-quart, it wont. This is a 5.5-pound cooler vs the Yeti that weighs in at about 15 pounds. Yeti designs their cooler to do one thing; hold ice for as long as possible. The Engel 19-quart is designed to be compact, lightweight and retain ice for a reasonable amount of time -- all of which were considerations for me. So, if you need your ice to last for days, buy a heavy-duty, roto-molded model. If you need a small, lightweight, high-quality cooler for day-use, this is the cooler for you.

The size and appearance and ability to keep ice in perfect condition for 24 hours or more was more than I expected.

This has got to be the best lunch box I have ever purchased. it fits the large Gatorade (4) few snacks and lunch plus has a tray for other things like spoons, knives, phone charges, pocket knife, keys, wallet... the strap aint really worth a two-cent f#$^ from a midget, but it does work, just a little short. Im a traveling mechanic and this box has made my life on the road much easier.

This is an honest review for people like me who want to use this as a cooler. I will try to be as factual as possible. I bought it for a 3 day canoe trip. I didnt expect this cooler to hold ice for 3 days, but I wanted the water tight seal. I have no doubt this cooler/drybox works fantastic as a dry box or lunch box. But as a cooler its very OK. I placed four 9x10 freezer packs inside of it. Basically it filled the cooler. After an hour or so, I touched the cooler on the outside and felt that it was very cold. I picked it up and the floor it was sitting on was cold as well. Not good because the cold was getting through the insulation. I left it overnight in my dining room (4pm - 10am). When I woke up I checked the cooler and the freezer packs were liquid. This was in winter so my house was 68-70 degrees (Florida). The quality is still good and overall I really like it, but to call it a cooler is a bit of a stretch. I lined the dry box with 1 styrofoam and repeated my experiment... the freezer packs are still half frozen after 29hrs. Despite its lack of insulation, I feel its a good, quality product.

Fantastic lunch box, cooler, keeps my drinks ice cold all day long with my ice pack, nice and deep so I can pack a full lunch and extra. I work in very hot places and it sits in the sun most of the day and the heat never reaches the goods inside. Nice a durable thick plastic material. The only con to this cooler is that the hinges are made of plastic and probably wont last a few years. But thats why we have hardware stores. Over all its a great every day lunch box. Just dont sit on it. And if you have an old play mate igloo lunch box that has a removable tray, itll fit right inside this lunch box next to the tray that comes with it.
