I am in love with these pencils. they are the best pencils that I have used ever. They are more than worth the price. I prefer these pencils as they dont wear down quickly and the fact that you dont need to sharpen them too much, they hold their points longer. I had bought the Prisma colour verithins just to try those out, and I was disappointed as they break very easily even though those are to be of a harder lead, but these Faber castells are awesome. I had tried them out singularly, and then decided to buy the 120 set as I wanted to get all the colours. I do not regret my purchase. The colors are varied and very saturated. You dont need a lot to get full coverage, especially in colouring books, which is my main use for them. The leads are thick and are very easy to sharpen to a nice sharp point. They are creamy and smooth and so easy to blend with other colours. I had no problem blending the colours together to get a nice mix down. You get three trays of colours in the tin. All in all my best purchase ever.

These are one of the most expensive colored pencils made and I’ve heard so much good things about them. I decided to buy the 12 pack to give them a try. Well I was very disappointed. I don’t know what I was expecting but these did not live up to the hype. Other than the fact that prismacolors can’t really be sharpened to a fine point because of breakage and these seem to not have that problem Prismacolors are just as good for less money. Not a lot less but enough. I would recommend these to people who money isn’t a concern.

I just received these today. They are lovely pencils. However the inner lid has stains and abrasions from the pencils. The picture above shows the markings. The pencils themselves are undamaged. The tips are all intact so I don’t know how this has occurred. But I’m so pleased with the pencils. I’ve been doodling and swatching with them, the pigment is lovely in each. They came a day earlier than scheduled. Packaged well. I’m pleased with this set. UPDATE: on closer exam I found three chipped pencils. Pictures added. This is not what I was expecting to find in this high end kit of pencils. They need to add a protective foamed cover sheet to protect this first layer of pencils. I have reached about to the faber castell company with this issue and pictures and hope they will consider adding a protective barrier.

These pencils are brilliantly made. The colors are vibrant, glides on smoothly. I just wish they made more colors. I need more colors. Well...you can layer on different colors to get the shade and color you want. Would I buy these again? Absolutely! I also need to say that they leads in these pencils are not as soft as Prismacolor Premiere pencils. And I have heard bad reviews on Prismacolor Premieres however I LOVE them too! I have not had any trouble with the pencils breaking when sharpening or when coloring. When coloring you just need to be gentler to lay down your colors. So if you have a heavy hand. FC Polychromos are what you should purchase. Expensive???? Yes, but you get what you pay for. And these are worth every penny!

I am not an artist by any means, just a wanna be/wish I was. I decided to go all out for these because I love color. And recently I love adult coloring books. I have been using a cheap (under $30 for 72 colored pencils) set for a couple of weeks and really enjoyed everything about coloring except for the pencils. So now I have these and I love them. They are very rich, the color just floats out of them. So far I have tried two blending pencils with them (prismacolor and one by Faber Castell), and also baby oil. I hate the smell of baby oil so I have ordered some gamsol, as I love the look of the color when it is blended with the baby oil (and I know it will look at least as good with the gamsol.) Anyway, I know really wonderful artists use these pencils, and I may never be one of those.....at least I can enjoy good tools!

I liked it , but it is way expensive. I actually bought it for 7yr old my daughter, she is very much into art. The lead doesn’t break.

I love these pencils and use them interchangeable with the Caran dache and Prisma color pencils. These pencils are super light fast, good quality and the colors are vibrant. The only down side is the white is not very bright but any YouTube video will tell you that. For a bright white grab you a white Caran Dache or Prisma color both are really good!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I love to color and find it very relaxing. My mom and I ordered the Inspire bible to do for 2017 and I wanted good pencils to color in it. After all my research I ended up choosing Faber-Castell Polychromos. SO GLAD I DID!!! Yes they are a lot of money but truly worth every penny especially if you want something to last awhile or be a heirloom someday. The colors are so vibrant and easy to apply. You dont have to push hard to get a great color and easy to hold pencils. These pencils glide on any paper. The points stay and dont need to sharpen everytime. They are beautiful and come in a great tin to protect them. They dont leave residue or transfer to another page when book is closed. I have tried a few brands including prismcolor and these by far are in a class by themselves. I am not an artist but with these pencils I feel like I am.

This is probably an outlier, but I went through nearly half of a pencil before I got the sharpness to where it was close to what I wanted. The lead inside fell out in large chunks while sharpening. I was using a brand new sharpener and sharpening very slowly with great care. The pencil core was broken inside on quite a few of the colours that I wanted to use. This is certainly just an issue with the handling, but I am very dissatisfied with the quality of the pencils in this particular tin. I am certain this was a worker at the packing warehouse that just tossed the tin around. I had to force the top closed a couple times when I first opened it because it was slightly bent. However, the colours that werent busted inside were wonderful! These are easily one of the top contenders for best pencils that I have used. I will be purchasing more for sure.

These pencils are perfect for detail. For the longest time I used prismacolor for all pencil drawings. Prismacolor has very rich colors but the lead is thicker and softer, breaks more, and the wax will eventually rise to the surface of your drawings, resulting in a duller appearance. While I have less colors to work with in this set, they are superior quality. The lead is thinner but harder, so they dont break as often and are perfect for detail work, i.e. fur/hair etc. The colors are vibrant and permanent but lack any sort of shine. You have to get a oil-based colorless blender for these, the waxy one for prismacolors will NOT work. If you are learning to blend colored pencils still, are practicing, dont care if the wax permeates through eventually, or need large surface areas covered, I would recommend prismacolor. If you are are comfortable blending to get the shades you need, are looking for more advanced pencils, particularly for detail work, and this is professional work that cannot have excess wax on it, I would recommend the Faber-Castell.
