Follow the instruction for where to place the Device (basically out of line of sight from outside by closing shades or whatever works) and it looks just like a real TV (or Computer with a big Monitor) on inside your Home. Also consider the amount of day light (or lamp light) the Unit will see when using the Dusk +4 or Dusk +7 Hr settings. Basically, good common sense placement inside your home and youre good to go! I ordered two Units and one had a defective Dusk +x sensor. Amazon gave a prompt Refund and I ordered a second one. By this time the Company had emailed me and asked what the issue was. I explained the issue and they sent me a third Unit for free just for my troubles with the Return. Gosh, I wish all Companies had Support like this!!! Highly recommended for when you vacation, travel for work, etc. Buy a couple of GE 15154 Random On/Off 7-Day Digital Timers sold here on Amazon for Lights in your Home and it so convincing that someone is home any would-be burglar would simply move onto the next House. Not worth the Burglars potential trouble!

I received an obviously damaged item (rattled), and returned it without using it at all. Previous Fake TV lights work very well but never shut off as promised (i.e. within a time frame).

Worked great. Used it after we moved out of our home while house was empty. Looks like a TV is playing. Neighbors called asking if we had guests staying in the empty house!

Wonderful product, very realistic. Havent had it long though and can only hope it lasts.

I bought this because my folks sometimes go out of town and at times Im not around late at night. I tried it and this thing works! I tested this while my dad was returning home and at the same time he asked if I bought a new TV. When he came inside the room he hilariously started to laugh with disbelief that it was Fake TV. This is a great product, seriously! You will be amazed and fool others.

From the outside, it really does look like someone is watching TV in the house. I like that there are a couple of different settings to choose from (depending on how soon it gets dark outside).

Unique concept. It really has provided peace of mind. Ive been using this product daily for the past few months. From the outside, it really looks like someone is at home, watching TV. Its like a babysitter for your home. I have mine on a daily timer so that I just set it and forget it. I would buy this again.

In a world where lame reality shows now make up the majority of cable TV programming, Fake TV is a godsend because it makes no false claims about the veracity of the content you (and potential burglars) will be watching. Among the benefits: it uses far less energy than a real TV; its silent -- no babbling hosts or MAXIMUM VOLUME IMPORTANT COMMERCIAL MESSAGES; and it turns itself on at dusk and off after a preconfigured time. It also costs less than a month of cable TV or DVD rentals (assuming the usual late fees). I love Fake TV because I can set it and forget it. As far as my neighbors know, Im consuming the required amount of televised drivel every night. As far as the burglars can tell, theres an unknown number of Bros in the living room watching PPV MMA or WWE just itching to try out some of the cool moves they just saw on anyone dumb enough to enter an occupied residence. And I can surf the web in the other room without missing anything entertaining or informative. As other reviewers have doubtless advised, placement is important. Draw the curtains so outsiders see just the play of lights in the room rather than the device itself. Check the effect from outside to see if its doing what it needs to do. If it fails as a crime deterrent, I can always use it as a quack medical device for balancing engrams or erasing unwanted chakras. I wonder if anyones interested in doing a reality show about that...
