Better that a timer on a light,, better than a motion sensor light, these make your house look like someone is home and watching tv ! I use this in conjunction with all of the above as well as motorized blinds , ring cameras and an alarm,,,, Bad guys want EASY,, this helps it look like it WONT be easy....

    Greater than one week

Great product. Shine it towards a wall or furniture that will reflect the random lighting effect - when looking from outside the light reflection does seem like a live TV is on. Compared it to when my actual TV is on and the light reflections that is seen from outside are very similar.

The Fake TV performs as advertised. It required zero installation know how. All one needs do is find a plug outlet and plug in the adapter and then plug the end of the adapter in the unit. The unit has settings that will make the TV come on at dusk then turn off after several hours. From outside at night while looking at the windows of my house where the unit is installed, it really does look as though a television were running. This illusion is looking through thin drapes and window blinds. I am pleased with the unit. Hopefully, any burglars will not be pleased. UPDATE: 8/7/2014 I returned home from a few weeks vacation. Before I left, I tested the unit and it appeared to work fine except it came on several times during the night instead of only once each night at dusk. To my surprise, my electric bill arrived yesterday and it was almost fifty dollars more than it usually is. I assume that the lights in the unit consume a lot of electricity together with the fact that the unit comes several times during the night. Lets see - $50 monthly (for extra electricity) times 12 months in a year = $600.00 annually. This is more than I pay my burglar alarm monitoring company. It is good to have security. The only issue I have is the manufacturer did not and does not warn of the high electricity consumption of the bright lights on the unit. I will still keep the unit and will use it again when I go away on vacation.

This item works as advertised. It gives the appearance that someone is in the room watching television. I put it in a bedroom before I left and when I returned, it was still going strong when night rolled around. I do tend to watch TV when I go to bed, so it seems realistic to me. I placed it on a small table about three feet from the bedroom window and when I checked it out before leaving, it looked like there was a person in the bedroom watching television. I tried placing it on the floor first and that did not give a realistic lighting effect. This one is bright and while there are others that are less so, I would encourage the brighter one for realism. Seems to be well made and I expect it to last. The company emailed me to ask if I was pleased with their product which seldom happens. This was the manufacturer and not Amazon. This posting was prompted by Amazon.

Our friend who does our yard and plows snow in the winter asked us if we had a TV on a timer when we were gone. This tiny little jewel is very good at simulating a TV. We have had one on a timer for 18 months, operating every day, and it is still going strong. I liked it so much I got one for several people for Christmas.

Very clever idea - I had no idea these existed until I saw one at a friends house. It does give the illusion that theres a TV in operation.

Its cute. Works as intended. I personally believe it does look like actual tv is on. However I found its better to plug it into another timer where you have more control over on/off times. Its alittle difficult to find good placement so ppl coming near window wont see the product is a fake yet still keepin the lighting visible. Gotta play with it but yes I would recommend

The FTV-11 is even brighter than our FTV-10!

Ever notice the flickering glow shining from your neighbor"s windows when they are watching TV? Burglars do too, so they know to move on to another target. FakeTV simulates the light output of a television, making it look like someone is home watching TV. The light effects of real television programming — scene changes, fades, flicks, swells, and more — are all faithfully simulated by FakeTV. Much like the FTV-10, the FakeTV model FTV-11 makes light like a television does. It just makes more of it! That makes the effect more noticeable, especially when used in larger rooms.

  • Our Brightest FakeTV!
  • Simulates the light output of a 40" HDTV
  • Built-In Light sensor and timer
  • Uses the same power as a nightlight
  • 12 Super bright LED"s with polished chrome reflector
  • US style AC adaptor and instructions included

Burglars do not like occupied houses; why risk getting caught. When they see that flickering glow, they know someone is inside watching TV. FakeTV is a simple DIY security device that gives the impression that someone is home and they are watching television right now. Burglars will not be able to distinguish FakeTV from a real TV.

Our brightest model in the FakeTV lineup!

The FTV-11 is 3 times brighter than our models FTV-10 and FTV-7. Use it in larger rooms or when FakeTV needs to be further from the window. FakeTV uses super bright LED"s that will last for a long time. If you use your FakeTV every night, the LED"s will last for 20 years.

Easy to Use

Using FakeTV couldn"t be simpler-- plug in the device and set the switch to Dusk + 4 or 7 hours. The FakeTV will turn on at night, every night! No WiFi to setup, no clock to set, no app to download, and no software updates.

Alternatively, the FakeTV can be used with a simple lamp timer and set to times you want it to be on. Simply, plug the FakeTV into the lamp timer, set the lamp timer, and set the FakeTV switch to ON.

Appear home with FakeTV

FakeTV is an excellent DIY security solution. There is nothing to install-- no drilling or wiring needed. It works great in conjunction with a whole home security system. Whole home security systems are great, we use them ourselves, but they don"t prevent the smash and grab type break-ins where the burglar is in and out before the police are even notified. FakeTV helps prevent this by alerting the the burglar that someone is inside.

Hydreon Corporation

Experts in optics and high volume manufacturing, Hydreon Corporation teamed up with author and inventor Blaine Readler to further develop his invention for a television simulator. Hydreon studied the flickering glow in detail, gathering much data with sophisticated instruments about the intensity and color variations emanating from a real television. Engineers wrote computer programs to simulate the effects produced by TV programming. While the FakeTV FTV-10 is the initial fruit of this hard work and ingenuity, the FTV-11 goes even further!
