Amazing product that works perfectly. However, make sure it won’t interfere with your saddle bag. I had to ditch the saddle bag to make sure it didn’t rub up again the light.

This is probably one of my best cycling purchase Ive made other than a helmet! Its expensive but definitely worth its weight in gold.

Its really nice to know cars are coming up fast. I do notice that my Garmin head unit - Edge 830. Circa 2021 the battery is expelled much quicker with the radar on. Used to get about 4-6 hours now get 3 hours. I understand that its caused by notifications, lights and noises, just need to be aware and leave with fully charged unit

I have to join the chorus praising the Varia radar. With a bar end mirror, I would usually hear a car before I saw it in the mirror (and my hearing isnt that great). I find it far easier to check my bike computer, a Garmin 830. I have used the Varia on several rides and it has performed flawlessly. I have had no false positives. The one time I thought it had alerted without a car there, I looked again and realized that the driver had pulled into a gas station. Likewise, it has never failed to detect an overtaking car. I do have a couple of nitpicks. First, it can be hard to hear the audible alert at higher speeds. This has only been an issue on a descent with my nose out over the bars, so it is hard to see my bike computer. My second, more serious, complaint is that there is no safety tether, and no attachment point to add one of your own. I cant imagine what they were thinking, and hope they change this on future models. These are minor issues that do not greatly detract from my satisfaction with the device. I suppose my opinion will change if I do manage to dislodge it on a bumpy road. Finally, I should note that I bought the model without a tail light because I do not like combo devices. It seems to me that one part of the combination always wear out long before the other. I would rather just mount the smaller radar and replace my blinky as needed.

I had my first ride with the rvr315, it warned me every time a car is overtaking me , it warned me about multiple cars, no missed or false alarms , now I’m a million times safer on the road. It alerted me long before I heard the cars coming. I can go on forever. I’m using it with the iPhone app , I wish I had bought it years ago .

I am using it with a wahoo ROAM and it works like a breeze. Warns me of cars, motorcycles and faster bike riders consistently before I hear them. Totally rely on it now. On a ~ 6h30min ride it shut down after 6 hrs instead of the advertised 8hrs. Must be related to the number of alarms I got but still would prefer battery life to be safely covering a gram fondo.

I live in a rural area and ride mostly on county roads. Since cars can sneak up and become dangerous quickly, this rear looking radar is a life saver. It works well and integrates flawlessly with the “Ride With GPS” app on my iPhone. I will never ride without one again! ~$200 is cheap insurance.

I ride most of my bicycle rides alone, so a rear radar was very important to me. This radar works fantastically especially in conjunction with the edge computer i have. The tail light is the best i’ve seen too. Overall i’m very pleased with it. One little issue, is the seat post adaptor which is not the best in my opinion. It doesnt’ hold the radar strongly enough in place and practically every ride the radar moves to one side or the other and does not stay in the center. Garmin do provide various rubber adaptors to fit the shape of different seat posts, however, even after using the best match rubber adaptor to my seat post (a classical round shape post) the radar deeps moving all the time and needs to be readjusted several times during ride.

This connected to my Wahoo Element with no issues. Great to know when there is traffic behind you and when it is clear.

See and be seen with Varia RTL515 rearview radar with tail light. It pairs with your Edge bike computer, other Garmin device or compatible smartphone to alert you of vehicles approaching from behind up to 153 yards (140 meters) away. When used with your compatible smartphone, the Varia app helps increase your awareness with vibration alerts and more. With daylight visibility up to 1 mile, motorists will be able to see you from a distance. The radar’s compact vertical design allows for device mounting on most road-use bicycles. And peloton mode provides a low-intensity flash that is kind to other riders’ eyes when riding in a group.
