I have been using this for approximately 1000 miles of road riding (mostly suburban/country roads) here in North Carolina. It has worked flawlessly, notifying me every single time with plenty of notice. Friends have commented on how the light changes when cars approach us from behind. I have used this with a Wahoo Bolt and the Wahoo ROAM. Both worked great, but I love the extra color of the green/orange/red bar on the screen of the ROAM. This makes it super easy to glance down for the all clear. I also love the sounds for all clear and approaching car fast. They are helpful when youre not paying attention to the computer or start to zone out. I would pay $1000 for this thing... seriously. AMAZING.

I ride with front and rear lights and a mirror on my glasses to see cars coming from behind. This device, which I am using with Ride with GPS on my phone, is a safety game changer. The light picks up the cars behind me well before I can see them in my mirror. The light flashes faster when cars approach me and my phone beeps to advise how many cars are behind me.

Definitely works. Everyone needs this if you ride bikes on public streets. It works with a phone or a Garmin unit (the ones specified), including their watches. Worth every penny, besides that youre getting a light too that extremely bright!

It really serves the purpose . Advises cars approaching .

As ardently as serious cyclists monitor the road ahead, we’ve always been vulnerable to what’s coming up from behind. And with today’s distracted motorists, we are in greater danger than ever of being run over by someone who “just didn’t see him.” Incredibly, this excuse still gets inattentive drivers off the hook after they have killed a cyclist in broad daylight. Despite more of us wearing helmets and dressing in bright colors, cycling fatalities are steadily rising.

I always use a mirror on my helmet but this adds additional safety and works well with my Wahoo Elemnt Roam. I had to turn the notification beeps off on my Wahoo though - it just got annoying to hear it beep all the time. But I do use the visual lights on the Wahoo and also the Garmin app on the Varia is easy to see. I have my iPhone mounted on the stem of my bike and the Wahoo out front. This attached nicely to my Fizik saddle and still have room for a small saddle bag

I love the overall function of the Varia 515 but I had to return two of them due to the switch cover failing to keep out moisture or retain on/off function. After my experience, I would not use one for anything other than tarmac and would ensure that the switch is covered by a piece of clear protective frame tape should wet weather be encountered. This is problematic because where the radar is so valuable is in degraded visibility.

Worked very well with my Edge 530 head unit. Made me more comfortable on the street.

Unit works a advertised, shows when vehicles are coming, light is very bright. Just a little pricey.

See and be seen with Varia RTL515 rearview radar with tail light. It pairs with your Edge bike computer, other Garmin device or compatible smartphone to alert you of vehicles approaching from behind up to 153 yards (140 meters) away. When used with your compatible smartphone, the Varia app helps increase your awareness with vibration alerts and more. With daylight visibility up to 1 mile, motorists will be able to see you from a distance. The radar’s compact vertical design allows for device mounting on most road-use bicycles. And peloton mode provides a low-intensity flash that is kind to other riders’ eyes when riding in a group.
