This Unit is simply brilliant. I was looking for a rear light, really just for extra visibility and my mate recommended this unit. I initially didnt want to spend the $200...for a light....however, got the unit, and after first ride, went, why did I wait so long. The rear radar and detecting of cars behind is simply brilliant...love it!...2 cars behind,.and the unit lets u know...I just love this technology, especially for myself who often rides on my own.

Where have you been all my life oh varia? Absolute lifesaver, useful when biking with my kids. Saves me from turning my neck every 1 min, and thus gives peace of mind.

Awesome! I have hearing aids (inner ear) and this warns us while riding and when vehicles are approaching. Great battery life too. Paired with my Wahoo Elemnt so it warns me when the battery gets low.

Single-handedly the best thing I have purchased for riding. I don’t ride in groups a lot and live out in the country. So most of my riding is 2-lane roads with little to no shoulder.

Works great. I feel safer with this unit watching behind me. I get a good distance of notification of approaching vehicles. Works well with my Garmin 530 unit.

The Garmin Varia RTL515 is a must-have if you road cycle. The device is like having a copilot yelling “CAR BACK” when traffic approaches from the rear. The device synchs perfectly to my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt GPS. Indications of traffic are reliable...if it indicates traffic, something is back there. I’ve not yet had a false positive, although it occasionally indicates other cyclists behind me...some common sense and awareness is required.

I have little to add to the other great reviews aside from echoing their sentiments - this is a game-changer for confidence while riding where traffic can approach from behind. Its not as useful in urban situations where there are always vehicles coming and passing from behind, but in rural settings where traffic is light, especially on gravel roads (where I ride most), it is so helpful!

Paired easily with iPhone. Display and audio alerts are great and 100% accurate. Also, motorcycles are seen as a vehicle.
