> 24 hourMy plastic one melted in a fire and exploded. So I thought, Im going to spend more money on a good one. I should have did this 20 years ago. The lever on this adjusts the flow nicely, The can is solid. Worth the money!! Never a plastic can again... The nozzles on them just keep getting worse... Make sure you pay attention to the nozzle size when you order. The 1 wont fit into an unleaded filler gas cap on a car.

> 24 hourUPDATE! Justrite was awesome about replacing the can. Arrived promptly after emailing them. Not even 1 year old. Stored in tool box on trailer. Went out to find 2 of gasoline in bottom of box. Can has 4 pinch points on bottom & one was leaking. A previous reviewer also had this issue.

> 24 hourFantastic product, I transported it in my van inside the rear passenger/cargo area and had no vapors or smell. They seal so well I forgot I filled them up and left it in the van two more days. They weren’t kidding when the explained in other reviews that you have very little difficulty or control filling even small containers or tools with fuel. I tried the upside down test with 4+ gallons inside and no leaking. The only minor issue is with fuel stations you only get about 4.5 gallons before the pump continues to shut off. Part of the product design but hardly a complaint…I just bought a few more of them to get the 15-20 gallon range I required. It was so nice to simply throw out all my plastic gas containers and crappy leaking “fuel efficiency nossles.”

> 24 hourThis is a terrific gas can that is heads and shoulders above anything else comparable. The only problem is mine, like many others in the reviews, arrived dented. I suspect these dents are caused by air pressure inequality. Shows you how well the seal holds on these things. The first time I opened the spring loaded filler cap, it popped like breaking a pressure seal. Maybe they could create some kind of shim that holds the full cap slightly open and allows the pressure to equalize in transit? Other than the small dent, this can works very well. The dent isn’t big enough for me to bother with. The dam works as intended, though for that kind of money I’d prefer something that wasn’t damaged out of the box.

> 24 hourThis is an excellent and safe storage can. It is well built and all metal. As required by the Type II standards it has one opening (spout) for pouring and one for filling. This relives you from the chore of unscrewing a spout (often with loose parts) in order to fill it or pour used fuel back in. I use mine to store gas/oil mix for my weed trimmer. It works well and the squeeze trigger lets me easily fill the small tank on the trimmer without rick of overflows. The squeeze trigger gives you fine control of the flow - this is pretty amazing for a gas can and is a big big safety feature. The fill opening has a VERY strong spring on it (good for safety in a fire situation) and it can be a bit of a chore to hold that open when wrangling the trimmer to pour unused gas back into the can. I need to get a funnel which might make this easier. Filling the can at the gas station is not difficult and the stiff spring is not a problem. There is a small amount of assembly required to mount the spout to the body of the can. Follow the instructions and you wont have any trouble. Another big plus is the 10 year warranty on this can. Yes there are cheaper cans out there, but not better ones. I keep the can outside, away from my house in a large plastic bin to protect it from the weather. Please, NEVER keep gas inside your house or garage. Its just too dangerous and you just cant know what might happen to that can when you are not around. An old boss of mine lost her home to fire when gas spilled in the garage and was ignited by the water heater. A bicycle fell and overturned the gas can which slowly leaked.

> 24 hourIf you read the reviews, some people say these cans are not good for Diesel storage, but NO ONE explains how long the storage period is that makes them bad. If you store Gas or Diesel I suggest you constantly replenish your stock. I dont need to store Diesel because I have a 100 Gallon transfer tank on my truck that is filled weekly but if I did need to store Diesel then Id do it the same way I store my Gasoline. Example: I need 30 gallons of stored gas & and at least a half tank of gas in my vehicle to get me out of my assumed natural disaster hotspot. So, I store 50 Gallons of gas.... why? Because Im always using gas. I start with 50 gallons then, when my truck needs gas again I use the oldest (2) 5 gallon cans of my storage gas. Next week, when my truck needs to be refueled I take the (2) empty 5 gallon cans with me to the station. I repeat this process, always using the oldest 10 gallons. My storage gas is never more than 2 months old. If you use Diesel in the same manner I use gas then youll never have stored diesel in these cans long enough to need to worry about fuel break down or contamination problems.

> 24 hour***4 year update*** I am very highly satisfied with this purchase. One of those got that gas can problem sorted permanently kinda things. I love the variable valve, and my garage NEVER smells like gasoline, even when the can is in direct sunlight. I have not needed to service the can in any way after 4 years of heavy use. Easy to fill, easy to dispense, safe and durable. Look no further. I would bump a star but I was already at 5. ONE WORD OF CAUTION-- this can builds internal pressure. Release the valve slowly away from your face and body in high temperatures to avoid gasoline spray. ***original review follows*** Nice study can. I have experienced none of the failures mentioned in some negative reviews with moderate use. As many positive reviews point out, it is superior in every way to the new plastic cans. The valve mechanism is rebuildable and the spout is a service part. Even if something goes wrong, I can guarantee this is not going into a landfill like an environmentally friendly plastic can would.

> 24 hourI purchased two of the Justrite cans to use while pulling my RV on long-distance trips. I wanted a good quality can since they would be sitting in an exposed truck bed. They worked well but I have a few small issues: 1) The 5/8in spout on this model fits in the gas opening on the truck, but its not long enough to completely empty the contents because you have to turn the can completely upside down. I ended up purchasing a large funnel which I hoped to avoid by getting the 5/8in spout. 2) Theres quite a bit of travel in the fuel release lever, requiring it to be completely depressed before its open. It would be nice if it would open the valve with less effort. 3) One of my cans came with a dent in the lower lip. I decided to keep it but better packaging in the bottom of the box would prevent this.

> 24 hourI have always kept the can in a garden tool chest by the house. I thought someone was stealing my gasoline. I put gas in it and put it back in the chest. Next day, empty. I put gas in it and then pick it up and shake it. A tiny stream of gas is coming out the bottom. I hated the plastic gas jugs, but I am now back to using on old one. For the price of this can I am expecting Justrite to send me a new one. We will see. Their customer service is excellent. Sent them a photo and they sent me a new one. They redesigned the bottom and it looks like it will be better.
