> 3 dayCaveat: I already owned at least one remote plug in this same family, so I already had the appropriate app to recognize the smart plug and that made the steps quite easy. I dont recall finding or registering for the app to be onerous, however, so that doesnt play into my review at all. This plug is very solid and is replacing a Belkin plug that just stopped working after 2 years. I chose this because I really did want two independent plugs and was happy to replace my single plug. This is shifted off to the side, so despite having two plugs, it doesnt block more than one outlet and has a much smaller profile than the plug that it is replacing. It has two naming options: both the plug as a whole and the two outlets on the plug. Thats really convenient if, for example, you want to turn off a light but not a fan, etc. Other than that, it does pretty much exactly what you would expect. The most complicated parts of installation. my helpful hints if you are having trouble: 1) The plug does not match any image of the plugs in the accompanying app. (The instructions that come with the plug do tell you what to choose as an option, however, and that worked fine.) 2) Trying to get the appropriate lights blinking was a little bit of a guessing game. The installation directions tell you to hold the reset button -- but there is no power or reset button that is obvious. There are two carat/arrow buttons (one on top and one on the bottom). I assumed that they pointed to the plugs that they control (and they probably do in some contexts) but they ALSO serve as the reset (TOP arrow button) and blue light (BOTTOM arrow button) controls. 3) If you hold down the top arrow button, it serves as the reset and will eventually cause the red light flash that you need. You can then press the bottom arrow button to get the blue light to accompany it and to pair the plug appropriately. Once it was paired, it was super easy -- my Alexa app recognized it straight off and I added it to a group which is also using it with no errors or issues. However, I give it four stars because of the guesswork involved in getting that original flashing down.

> 3 dayThese plug extenders have been very useful to me, to integrate non Alexa compatible devices, with my Amazon Alexa eco dots. Quite frankly, they have worked flawlessly for me, and I have never had an issue with them not performing through voice commands. The setup was easy and straightforward, and have given me the ability to operate older lamps, and a fan in my bedroom with ease. I think they offer tremendous value, and are a great idea for retrofitting older electronics, and furniture items that may be plugged in. All in all, through my experience, I have had no hiccups or problems, and so I would with confidence, recommend them to extend your voice controlling capabilities through Alexa.

Greater than one weekI have to reset the outlets minimally once per day. Completely defeats the purpose of having them. They constantly go offline. When they work, they are great. But that is few and far between! Highly recommend…avoiding…

> 3 dayThese are excellent smart outlets. Each unit has 2 outlets and 2 buttons. Each button is used for manual on and off. If you hold down both buttons for a few seconds you will go into pairing mode. That is it for the physical side of things. So easy, and fool proof. The software side follows the same suit. You download Smart Life. Sign up. Put you smart outlet into pairing mode, then sign into your wifi. It took me about 20 seconds for each unit. I renamed each outlet and set timers. This is as frill free as it gets, but that just makes it more simplistic and fluid. The app is fast with absolutely no issues. I was pleasantly surprised as this is rarely the case. Great, affordable smart outlets, that work super well.

> 3 dayI moved into a place that had vaulted ceilings and no installed lights in the room. So I had to buy multiple lamps and lights to place around the room to light it which was more difficult because of the high ceilings. I bought this plug and a few single ones of the same brand and was able to install them fairly easily and connect them all to my app. I even have them connected to my Google assistant hub in my room. So I leave the lights in the on position and just say hey Google turn off lights and all the switches will turn off which is very convenient considering they are all on different outlets. Something to note is that certain types of lights (my example is fairy lights that have the remote with 8 different settings) will not work the same way when I say hey Google turn lights on. The outlet will turn on but unlike the other lamps I have that will turn on when I say to turn on, the fairy lights require me to manually turn on the lights each time. The turn off feature works since the outlet is switched off but I do have to manually turn the fairy lights back on with the remote or the manual button on the lights themselves. Because of this, I chose not to use these outlets for that reason but for every other use I have them for, I enjoy them.

17-11-2024I ordered this KMC Smart Plug 2-Outlet Plug because I wanted to have the flexibility of two female plugs on one outlet. I didnt quite realize how complicated it is. To begin with, both Outlets have a switch on the device to power them on or off. I really cant see any advantage to this; Id rather that they were both perpetually on so I dont have to check the power indicator and switch them on or off each time I use it. This is not a major inconvenience, I just dont see the need for it. And the device has an App you can download to your phone, so you can control the output with Alexa or Google Assistant. This allows you to set parameters according to, time, sunrise/sunset, weather or more. Personally, I cant think of a single use I would have for any of these functions. As I said, I just wanted a Dual Outlet on one plug and thats all I was really interested in. I suppose the extra functions are nice, I just wont ever use them. I do like the functionality of this device for the purpose I ordered it and I cant say it doesnt work well. I do recommend this Smart Plug for whatever the reason you want it and my rating is Four Stars.

Greater than one weekI use these for my lamps around the house. They are so nice and easy to use. They are also fantastic if you have an outlet with an outlet extender. It allows you to add this to an outlet extender without covering up all the other outlets. I have the other ones around the house the circular ones this brand is great! Cheap and reliable!

> 3 dayThe KMC Smart app is creepy. It absolutely demands Location on your phone to be On / Always or it won’t proceed with device setup. There’s no reason for that; this isn’t a thermostat. I suddenly didn’t trust it. I decided to switch my phone to our guest network, turn on Location, activate the device on the guest network, then turned off Location and switch my phone back to the private network. The device works and can be controlled with the app, but I’m going to get rid of both and replace them with a Z-Wave outlet controlled by SmartThings. I had tried this as a smaller, cheaper WiFi alternative to Z-Wave, but it’s not compatible with the SmartThings app and as mentioned doesn’t seem like a trustworthy app from a privacy perspective.

> 3 dayUsed these along with Alexa for Christmas lights and it was so much more convenient than setting up timers for each outlet. Love that these can be set up for multiple items and turned on and off whenever I want with voice control.
