> 3 dayThe display backlight failed on my early 2013 Macbook Pro last week, during law school, and this seemed like a good temporary solution before I could get another computer. I ordered it Tuesday night and received it Thursday afternoon. My laptop only has an HDMI output, so I was glad this screen too that input, not just USB-C. I use this in front of the old display, held up by Velcro dots. Its pretty bright (although not quite so bright as the original screen in full sunlight), and extremely sharp. Did have to do some color calibration and tweaking of settings for optimal display, but thats expected. I also love that it can be powered by the USB port on my laptop. Only real downside (aside from clunkiness) with this setup is the USB power and laptops dedicated GPU mean reduced battery life, but its still cheaper than a new laptop. Also, I have to manually adjust the brightness based on my setting, but thats to be expected. As others have said, this monitor might not be the best for audiovisual work, and I cant speak as to gaming delay (although I notice no input lag in regular use), but for text-based work (in-class notes, and the occasional YouTube video) its more than adequate—actually a bit better than Id hoped for the price. That said, I have noticed only one issue with the monitor itself: At certain low brightness settings (around 1-5 out of 100), a weird quiet buzzing noise comes through the speakers, even when muted (I use the MacBooks built-in speakers, rather than this monitors). This usually goes away with an increase of a brightness point or two, but is a bit weird. Aside from that, a week later of daily portable in-class use, its working well for me.

> 3 dayI am greatly impressed by KYYs commitment to customer service. My experience with the original monitors power-up issue occurred just after the 1 year warranty had expired, so I had not contacted KYY directly about a replacement. Upon seeing my review they reached out, and once it was clear that the monitor was having problems receiving power (NOT a cable issue), they offered to send me a new monitor! It came so quickly that I was not back yet from a vacation, so I was only able today to plug in the new monitor and it was a seamless plug and play. I love my HP Spectre laptop, but it is a more compact size, and when I work in my outside office in the summer I really need the extra screen real estate that the KYY monitor provides. Since the HP Spectre has thunder ports (Type C - full function ports) I am able to use that quickest and easiest method to both power and send signal to the KYY external monitor. I have attached pictures showing the KYY Type C full function port with connector (provided by KYY) and a picture of that cable plugged into my computer. As soon as the connection was complete the KYY logo came up and then immediately my main computer screen was mirrored. My final picture shows both simultaneously with the KYY Monitor as a second screen. Based on the customer service follow-up I would definitely recommend this monitor, and the company that makes it. ------------------------------------- First Review: This was my first (and perhaps only!) portable monitor Ive ever purchased and I was pleased by the plug-and-play set up and picture quality. After a few months however the HDMI connector into the monitor, which was a common USB socket, became loose and it was difficult to keep the connection. Any slight motion that moved the cord and the connection was lost. But later that year I bought a new computer with a thunder-port and this summer when I needed the external monitor I plugged it in that way and everything worked great! Unfortunately the next day when I plugged my computer in the exact same way the monitor was not showing the signal, and instead gave me a power saving error message before it shut down. After extensive troubleshooting and referencing the manual and user questions on Amazon I concluded that it was a power issue - the monitor was not getting power through the thunderport. I tried various methods, from using the separate power cable plugged into my computer, to plugging into an outlet directly. When nothing worked, I used the tech support email listed in the manual (and here on Amazon) [email protected], and send a description of my problem, asking for any assistance they could offer on a solution. Over two weeks later and I havent received any response. Not even a were busy and will get back to you later automatic email. So. Anybody want a nice looking doorstop in the original packaging? selling it cheap.

Greater than one weekThis is a wonderful add on to when i need to work while traveling, or an extra monitor for working from home. The only two things that i dont love is that the screen doesnt pick up colors like my mac does (2021 macbook pro), so everything is a little duller. Still bright, and readable, but its not quite as crisp and clean as the mac. The second thing that i dont love is that the case that also doubles as the screen stand isnt very secure and takes up more space that i want. Its your average ipad-like case/stand, but because the screen is already bigger than your average tablet, the case/stand takes up more room than needed. I wish it came with a kickstand like other portable monitors, but these are the only things i can really complain about. Great price for what it is.

Greater than one weekI have been using this for past 3 months and I am very pleased with this monitor. I used it for work to work from my laptop remotely, used it with our church streaming equipment connected to Atem Mini Video switch to monitor all video inputs as a quick temporary setup, and as a permanent install as a 4th display at my job. I think its very versatile and easy to use. Only thing I would suggest improving is the magnet on the cover to make it hold stronger, other than that i love this thing. Wish I would have bought it sooner, but for the price point of this unknown brand, i would not hesitate to buy it instead of one of the big name brands. I hope it lasts though, but for past 3 months its been very solid and not a single glitch.

> 3 dayThe monitor exceeded my expectations for the price. The ability to work with my different PC’s has increased my productivity. Product support has been excellent; support proactively reached out by email before my product arrived. The monitor provides extended mode with my Surface Book 2 and Surface 5 Pro. The USB-C (Thunderbolt) cable from the monitor plugs directly to my Book’s USB-C socket offering a single cable solution. The USB-C cable provided with the monitor is full function and any alternative USB-C must support Thunderbolt as noted by a thunderbolt symbol next to the monitor’s USB-C socket. A USB-C power delivery (PD) charging cable may not work. I needed to use the HDMI cable from the monitor to my Surface 5 Pro and iPad Pro. The Surface Pro has only a mini-DisplayPort so an adapter (mini-DP to HDMI socket) is required. The iPad Pro’s USB-C port can connect directly with the USB-C cable from the monitor; but I was hesitant to use this configuration for a long period since it drains the iPad battery. So with the iPad Pro I used a USB-C hub with an open HDMI socket in the iPad and the HDMI cable from the monitor; the hub provides power via a DC USB-C input. Each time the HDMI cable is used on the monitor power needs to be supplied by the USB-C power input on the monitor. Though I can only use the iPad with the monitor in mirror mode, it does provide a wider screen for viewing videos. The speaker on the monitor is ok, but is not of the audio quallity coming from the PC. I selected the audio from the PC when listening for a long period. The brightness and clarity of the display has been good for text and great for pictures and video.. The OSD seems finicky; it may be me turning the wheel while pushing to select. The magic cover is adequate, but needed to be setup per the instructions with the front flap folded back toward the monitor to help keep the monitor from sliding down. The cover makes it easy to pack the monitor and move. What I needed was a monitor that can be used on my different PC platforms and is portable. This KYY monitor provides me an good cost effective solution. The customer support has been excellent; they quickly addressed a hardware problem. They responded within a day given the time difference. They reached out before dellivery of the monitor giving me a contact should problem arises and comfort that they tend to satisfy.

> 3 dayI was frustrated at firs as my monitor worked at first, but then stopped after a couple of weeks. After the first review, the company reached out to me and helped figure out it was a port that wasn’t working, so they sent me a new monitor. The new one works great and has been for a few weeks now!

> 3 dayI work full time from home, and in my office I use two monitors. But when May comes, I stay at my campground and it is much harder to do my job efficiently with just a laptop. This screen is PERFECT! It’s the same size as my laptop so my eyes easily transition from one screen to the other. You need to be able to plug it in, but that’s not a big deal. The only complaint I have is that the case (which acts as a stand) doesn’t hold it upright very well. If you bump it, it falls down. But if you get it set up and put something in front or behind to help stabilize, it doesn’t do that. I usually put my water bottle behind it and that works just fine. My team of 5 decided to get one too based on how much I like mine. So they can work from their deck on nice days,

> 3 dayI use this on a small hospital table by my bed so that I can play my switch on it. It is absolutely amazing. The picture quality is great and I love the volume as well. It is a bit difficult to use the volume button correctly because it is also the brightness button. As long as you go up first on the dial it will bring up the volume. Great purchase!

> 3 dayHaving recently purchased a steamdeck and also an L-shaped desk I figured that the real state that I possess could serve well with a Steamdeck in desktop mode. So lets begin by saying that the Standalone monitor requires its own source of energy. Using the steamdeck dock as a source of power was not sufficient turn the screen on. Which means, I had a few more cables going around my new set up. No big deal! The quality of the picture is nothing to write home about. Its average and it displays average amount of colors. It isnt very bright either, but it isnt dark. Again, the screen brightness is about average as well. There is a volume control on the side that is spring tensioned (yeah weird huh?) pull it up to turn the volume up and down to turn it down. The volume control stick defaults in the middle. There is also a very tiny on and off button. It sits above the volume control stick, you cant miss it. Maybe it me, but I cant never tell when its on or off because there is no indication of it, outside of turning the attached device on. The biggest problem I have with this is that there a substantial perceived latency. At first I thought the steamdeck had issues recognizing my mouse, but I swapped it for another I had laying around and the latency was the same. I tried playing a few games and my biggest evidence is when the sound effects kick in vs when its displayed. There is a serious discrepancy in synchronization between the too, they barely match. This has led me to believe that this device is not a good component for gaming. I suspect it would be fine for watching videos. Now that I think of it, I dont think it would be even okay for professional use. The latency is very noticeable. The company actually sends you an e-mail after purchase, stating in its first paragraph that you should try to contact them if there is an issue before writing an Amazon review. I suspect this is a way to persuade people from bombing their review page with negatives - but I dont buy into it. The fact is this screen is kind of mediocre and that is expected for the price. Yes its very light and portable but latency should not be a compromise at all! I did my best to give this screen an unbiased review but for the sake of my intended purchase this is a no-go. Do not buy this for your Xbox, PS5 or Steamdeck.
