Greater than one weekId long used a beefy triple-monitor UHD set-up for gaming and coding, but as Ive not been gaming as much I found I was really only using two monitors, and often the second one was more for having youtube or netflix going in the background. I decided to downsize my set-up and stick with one UHD monitor and something small on the side, and this is the first small monitor Ive purchased for this purpose. I will actually likely be returning it, but not for any fault of this device, but simply that I didnt know what I wanted prior to purchase and now that Ive held/used a portable monitor, I think I want something different. So, about this device: * Portability - Its incredibly light and slim, it definitely meets the portability definition. The power and menu buttons are quite small, but in particular the menu button I feel pokes out a tiny bit too much, and Id be concerned about it being damaged or pushed into the unit if I were to put it in a bag that got jostled around. The smart cover (what makes a cover smart? I honestly dont know, but its just a cover that doubles as a stand) seems to do a good job to protect the unit from day-to-day scuffs and scratches, but I wouldnt imagine it would do anything against a fall or direct impact from something. If I were really moving this around a lot, Id probably invest in a heavy duty case. * Ports, I/O, Hook-up - With the ability to use HDMI or USB-C, I like that this can be switched between my actual PC (with a 3080 in it at time of use) and my Surface Pro 8 without needing special adapters. However, it would be an improvement if in both modes you could only use one cable. That is, with the right type of device USB-C can deliver both the power and the display signals, but if you are using HDMI you will always need to also use USB-C for power. HDMI as a technology is capable of transmitting power, so I would have liked to see both modes of transmission also be capable of powering the device. * Sound - I hadnt realized when purchasing it has its own built in speakers, but thats a plus to me as well. The sound isnt great, you wont be getting any Dolby Digital Surround from this, but its a nice little option if you need some sound on the go and dont want to go through managing a bunch of Bluetooth devices, other cables, etc. just to hear a video or something. It would not, in my opinion, meet any gamers standards of good audio, though. Nice in a pinch, thats about it. * Visuals - It seems pretty good. After being on UHD for years it is difficult for me to really judge 1080p fairly, but I have no big gripes with the visuals. Differences in color, especially in ranges approaching dark greys/blacks, are difficult to make out except at maximum brightness, but its not experience-breaking. I feel the range of brightness available is decent; you can make it quite dim to protect your eyes in a dark room, or can get it bright enough to see in a well-lit room. I do not, however, think it would be very usable in direct sunlight. * The case - This is actually one of the main reasons Im returning it is that I dont like the case that comes with it and would rather just get a different device than buy an additional case. The case is fine for protection and viewing the device if you are okay with looking down, but even at the most vertical kickstand position the screen was nowhere near as vertical as I wanted, and I had to tilt my head down quite a bit to view properly (something Im avoiding after some ergonomic-caused neck issues). That said, it does fit well with many gooseneck clamps made for tablets, as you can see I am using in my attached picture. (Youll also note that I am using it upside down, which Windows allows you to do but I am not sure if you will be able to do that with other OS. I am using it in this configuration so that the ports/cables are behind my monitor rather than poking out near the wall.) I think that this is a perfectly good device with no major objective flaws given the price for the product, but subjectively I think something different is going to be for me.

> 3 dayIll be honest, Ive had this portable monitor for a few weeks and Im still kind of learning it. I think I need to do some more tweaking to maximize the display. I dont really care about the sound part. I did use some leftover laptop cover to hide the large KYY on the bottom of the monitor (personal preference). I found a great & cheap stand to help it in my specific placement. My largest piece of advice for this monitor is to get either different USB-C cord, or some right angle adapters (which I did). The USB-C to USB-C cord provided works fine (its the only one I have needed so far), but I have limited space, so it took too much to have them sticking out so far. You can see in my pics how much space I saved by using the USB right angle adapters.

> 3 dayMarch 2, 2023: update: great customer service! They reached out to me based on my Feb 12th review and replaced the product without and hassle. I haven’t tried out the replacement yet, but fingers crossed! Feb 12, 2023: This monitor was GREAT!... for 6 months. Then it started glitching - it would connect and disconnect every 10 seconds or so, sending my computer into a confusing spin of jumping screens. So right around the time that the warranty ended, so did the monitors functionality.

> 3 dayI bought the monitor in September 2020 but it stopped working last summer, in less than two years. The screen blacked out and shows no signal. I tried a few times to revive it but with no success. I think the USB connector is fine. My laptop does see the monitor when connected and offers display choices, but the monitor screen stays black no matter what I do. I like the monitor a lot but I am hesitant to buy another one. In the meantime, I have an old apple monitor which is 8 years old and still performing perfectly.

17-11-2024I love my KYY monitor. Its come in clutch for all the zoom meetings that I need to host and cant see the powerpoint Im sharing while still seeing participants. Its heavier than I expected, but I would equate that with durability. Its thin and slips in my computer bag without too much effort either. I waited to create my review so I could be very sure that the quality was there before giving a 5 star rating, but this unit deserves it. The only thing that would be better is if the compact USB plugs could be labeled as it seems they are dedicated - one for power and one for extending the screen. Thats the only thing that I think could be better with this one. Super valuable product!

Greater than one weekFull disclosure this is my second monitor from KYY as my first one broke. However, KYY was very generous in helping me resolve my issue and replace the damaged monitor. The monitor visuals are fantastic, and it is an extremely handy option to have as I primarily work remote and need a second monitor for when I am hot-desking around the company sites. Very useful, great picture, very convenient. Extremely useful for co-op video game nights as the monitor can be powered completely by an Xbox or similar, meaning a great small footprint in a couch gaming night. Very impressed by the KYY team in their customer service and product.

> 3 dayI love it! Everything is perfect, But it doesn’t work on portrait mode standing alone, I had to purchase a standing because the buttons are at the bottom and are pressed continuously. I bought another brand and it was the same, so I guess it’s just a design standard (mistake) or something like that. Otherwise its amazing!!!

> 3 dayPurchased this after a colleague pulled a similar one out at a work meeting and found it to be possibly an invaluable tool for collaboration. It looks nice, well packaged, sleek, but it really falls short in picture quality. I dont know what it is, but it doesnt seem to actually output correct resolution - it shows up in Windows as 1080P but it is certainly not displaying as 1080P. When you change the setting, it seems to want to try to be, but then reverts back to something worse than 720P - even being worse than the native 1366x768 on my built in laptop screen. Text looks fuzzy and my guess is that if I spent a significant amount of time looking at it - Id probably get a headache. For the amount of time Ill be using it - I might just make do - but it aint great.
