04-12-2024Pros: -144hz -Minimal backlight bleed -OSD easy to use -Comes with display port cable and HDMI cable -extremely easy to setup -stock calibration is decent, only had to modify a few settings. Cons: The stand sits too high at lowest adjustment, so I had to modify my desk to clear. Highest point is roughly 18 3/4 to clear. My calibration on Game 1 Preset: Brightness - 25 Contrast - 70 Sharpness - Default 50 Gamma - mode 2 Color temp - Custom - R58/G49/B48 Adaptive sync - On Black Stabilizer - Default 50 Response time - Fast Aspect ratio - Full Wide Energy Saving - Off Standby - Off All settings at aspect ratio and below optional, I opted to turn the energy stuff off. I Absolutely love this monitor. I first was gonna get the 850 but its been running low on stock for a while now, settled with this variant instead. Just setup today and played a bit of Rainbow six at 144hz and it was perfect. This is the sRGB version of the 27GL850, it also registers on my computer as the 27GL850. If youre stressed for cash and wanna save a bit of money, this one will do fine. Colors look great without the wide range color gamut, and from reading it should mainly be applicable to HDR gaming/photo editing anyways, which the 850 doesnt do a great job at as is. I dont plan on using HDR either. All in all this thing came perfect with no bad pixels, and the backlight looks good. This monitor should have a slightly higher contrast ratio than the 850 (1000:1 while the 850 is around 800:1). I highly recommend this as a viable cheaper option to the 850. If purchasing this with limited vertical space look for a gas shock vesa mount to lower it further or modify your desk for 18 3/4 of vertical clearance. The only difference according to specs is the nano ips panel on the 850, which seems like it has more to do with the color range.

Greater than one weekI bought this monitor for both remote work and gaming about six months ago and its been a significant upgrade from my old Dell U2711, which is now my second monitor. The feature set is good for the price and Ive recommended this monitor to others who are looking for an upgrade for their gaming rig. Pros: - Good picture with low ghosting at high refresh frame rates, when driven from an NVIDIA card in G-SYNC Compatible mode at 144Hz over DisplayPort. The monitor has a setting to control the response time vs. ringing tradeoff, and also shows in the OSD the current frame rates being received from the video card. - Supports HDR video input. - Control panel is fast and responds immediately to joystick controls, unlike some other monitors Ive used that have annoying delays in the menu controls. This includes fast input switching, which I do a lot from having two computers hooked to it. - Runs cool, can barely feel any heat emitted. - No problems taking off the default stand and mounting on a standard VESA monitor arm. Cons: - Some backlight bleed in the lower-left corner, though Ive gotten used to it. From what Ive heard, this can vary significantly from unit to unit. - Really poor sound quality, which sounds like loud bursts of noise when listening to music. Its noticeably worse than any other audio output I have, including the U2711, laptop headphone jack, or USB-C dock, driving it over DisplayPort or HDMI, and with either an NVIDIA or Intel graphics card output. Couldnt figure it out until I played a sine wave sweep in Audacity and heard blatant aliasing around 6KHz. Do not get this monitor if you care about quality from the audio output. - HDR over HDMI from a GTX 1650 Super on Windows 10 was distorted (compressed), though DisplayPort input was fine. Its also not very good at HDR in general, but its useful if you just need to be able to test or experiment with HDR and dont care much about HDR image quality. Additional gotchas: - It has a lot of picture settings that are poorly documented with not necessarily good defaults and can produce a bad quality image. For instance, theres no indication of what Gamma 1 through 4 correspond to. Before gauging the picture quality, reset the Black Stabilizer to 50, double-check against some calibration images, and try the sRGB preset. Fixing this really improved the picture quality. - The monitor can take a 4K (3840x2160) signal and advertises that it can do so over HDMI, even though the panel is only 2560x1440. This can cause Windows to send it a 4K signal even though the resolution is set to 2560x1440, resulting in a blurry image. It can take some fiddling with Windows display and graphics drivers settings to fix this (active signal resolution = 2560x1440 in Settings).

> 3 dayIll be frank. Im having a hard time understanding the rave reviews from others. I used this monitor to replace an old Dell monitor that was so old it didnt even have full HD. While this monitor is definitely better, it did not wow me like I expected it to based on reviews her on Amazon. Is the picture clearer? Sure. Are the colors more vibrant? Yeah, thats noticeably better. However, I stacked this up against a Dell S2719DGF which is $100 cheaper and has 165 Hz refresh. The Dell also had a great picture with good color, almost as good as this LG, even though its not an IPS panel. Plus, it felt like it was a more solidly built monitor (e.g. the joystick on the LG feels cheap - like its going to stop working at any time.) The audio, specifically the DAC, on this LG is worse than the Dell. However, both are not good enough for me to use; direct to on-board audio is much better. I just cant see the big hype of this LG for the extra $100. I returned the Dell, oddly enough, because Dell customer service was a mess. They told me they would provide very limited support, because this FreeSync compatible monitor was connected to an NVIDIA card. That was pretty much a mess-up on their part, but nonetheless, a bit too shaky for me to keep the monitor. BTW - I have 3 LG TVs, so I know what to expect by way of quality and customer service. Plus, I obviously had a Dell monitor for years, plus a few Dell laptops, so I know that company pretty well too. This LG and the Dell both play well. G-Sync with my GTX 1060 worked seamlessly (pun intended) on both, even though the Dell is not considered G-Sync compatible. Plus, refresh rate is good on both. Incidentally, LG missed an opportunity with the software you can download to control monitor settings within Windows. They should include the ability to switch monitor modes with a shortcut. This would all but remove the need for the joystick (for my purposes). In general, the software is pretty useless. Even the feature to switch modes based on the running application does not work properly. A shame really - a lot of potential there. So, in the end, Im keeping this LG because it is officially G-Sync compatible, although it still does not show on the official list at NVIDIA (the 27GL850 does). Plus, it does have a good picture and the refresh rate is decent. However, its not worth the extra $100, if you can get over the limited support from Dell.

Greater than one weekOrdered 1 back in Nov 2022 and the IPS glow was horrendously bad and impossible to ignore when looking at a dark image or website (i.e. a dark themed site). There was a constant bright glow in the bottom left corner that took up about 25% of the display. Its as if the sun was glaring on your monitor, but the blinds are closed... and its night time... I ordered a replacement and that one had the same exact issue. Very likely it was a bad batch considering other people have not reported this and anyone with eyes would have noticed the IPS glow, but I personally wont buy an LG monitor for a while, at least not this line of monitors. I wish I had took some pictures to showcase it, but taking a picture of a monitors display also isnt an accurate measure of how good does this monitor look However, when I was playing games in bright scenes, the display looked great and had a high, smooth refresh rate. I would still recommend it, but if you have this issue, consider talking with Amazon or LG support to see if you can get a replacement from a different batch (or something along these lines) because the IPS glow was not acceptable quality control. Because of this, I wont give a number rating for the picture or brightness quality, but will rate the gaming experience as 4/5.

> 3 dayThis monitor is a great step up from the similar version of it that is 144Hz at 1080p. That one has a great balance of performance and picture. This one, however, doesnt have a great color balance but is able to properly output a sharp 1440p picture. It took some configuring, but I found a sweet spot for the picture to not look too cool and for blacks not to look as crushed. But now, 6 months after purchasing, I am noticing the screen flickering. If I load up a game, theres a chance that the screen will flicker. Theres even some flickers when Im not playing anything! I dont think the display itself has a problem, but its not handling G-Sync properly. I sent in a service request to have this looked at, which means Ill be without this monitor for a good month or so. Others seem to also have the same problem, so just be aware of this. Nice monitor, but some serious drawbacks that wouldve made me reconsider buying this.

Greater than one weekSo far impressed with this display, just upgraded from 1080p and 24” to 1440p 27” and im shocked how big of a difference it has made in my experience. If you have a smaller or older monitor and want to try a QHD, this thing is a great starting point and a bountiful upgrade for the price. Also would like to note it was insanely easy to set up, to the point where I pulled out some screws and realized i didnt even have to. Comes with hdmi and DP cables, and the heigh adjustment is as easy as grabbing it and moving it where you want. Love it, made my desk a battle station.
