Liquitex Professional Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 237ml (8-oz), Black

This is formulated for canvas and does real well there, as one would expect. I needed a black matte base on a wooden table I was working on and admit that after finishing the bottle I bought something cheaper. But only because my local store didnt stock the liquitex stating $. Whatever! REGRET! It dried too quickly & f l a k e d o f f ! Now, I know that it wasnt formulated for wood, but please, its porous & SHOULD WORK. This experience serves to highlight the performance AND flexibility of the liquitex brand prep. Sometimes it pays to be brand loyal, because obviously the experience shared was a waste of time and money, which in the end is way too expensive in the first place. I will add, however, that on canvasses it has never presented a problem & complaining has never occurred to me. Enjoy.

I will not buy this item again. The lid was NOT closed at all and leaked all over the plastic and the box. What kind of manufacturer sells products that need to be sealed send them out unsealed.

Use it all the time but it is very light, so u might want to go two three layers if u use it over a painting.

what can I say...it is Liquitex ...for pros...dont skimp on the basics.. this product is a must for smooth canvas and great coverage

have not used this yet but Im sure its the same quality as my other liquitex products--a brand I rely on.

Exactly what need.

Gesso is used to make acrylic paint spread easier.

Not exactly the clear i expected it to be. It is a murky diluted white gesso.
