Used it as a base for my craft painting

Wife heard about this product from an art colleague and decided to give it a try. Shed been using the white gesso for years. Said this is a wonderful product but the surface area coverage isnt as good as the white gesso by same company, so you may have to add more gesso to the surface if you want a nice black. Also, she noticed it has a bit more grit than the white and subdues colors, whereas the white tends to make the colors pop more. That being said, shes really been enjoying the contrast to her artwork this gesso brings.

i tried a lot of different kinds of chalkboard paints - two storebought brands and several homemade varieties found on pinterest - black gesso is the perfect chalkboard paint - has a wonderful tooth and finish

I use the clear gesso because it has tooth and a grittiness to it. I spray a tad of water with a bunch of this and I get the best surface to paint on. I cant live without this. Go for it. Doesnt disappoint!! Will buy over and over and over.

I started in art school with Liquitex because my painting professor recommended it. in later years, I switched to other off brands to save money. I came to understand how this gesso is better in every way you can measure. more white, more flexible, more opaque, more coverage, more tooth, and can be used with more different mediums, including oil and acrylic. this is the best gesso there is. and here on Amazon, it is the best price by almost half from a local art store, HALF the price!
