20-11-2024So, I just got this, then I updated the software and added it into homekit. Then I commanded it to different levels while measuring the voltage. There are a few problems. 1. Commanding it to 0% is the same as commanding it to 1%. Which is to say, it does not turn off, and I think you should expect it too turn off in this case. The measured voltage in that case is still 30V. Thankfully, the light on the controller stays on, so its not actually misleading. 2. You cannot turn it off by pushing the button. At all. You can cycle through various power levels (which is neat) but theres no button combination that results in it being OFF. Or maybe there is and I havent found it. I havent read the directions, but I dont think I should have to read the directions in order to turn an electric power socket / controller with ONE button OFF. Okay, I just found it. You double-press the button for OFF. This is bad design.

> 3 dayThis Smart Plug controller is great. It was fast and easy to set up. I put it on my 2.4 GHz guest wifi, and it connected on the first try. I have other Meross devices too. I have 2 wifi garage door controllers which also work very well. I recommend this controller.

> 3 dayHooked it up for our outdoor Christmas display and set it on a timer. Worked like a charm and fairly easy to do. Very pleased with it. Can see us using it over and over again.

Greater than one weekEasy to set up. I received this today and within a half an hour I was able to have it turn on two sets of outdoor Christmas lights by talking to Alexa. The instructions with the company Meross and with Alexa were both easy to understand. And I am 80 years old and not the greatest at computers and iPhone.

19-11-2024Homekit compatible smart plugs in general were expensive compared to non-Homekit years ago. This has changed, yes, still more expensive. But to not have to use multiple smart apps for each switch is a mental life-saver. Setup was easy scanning the QR code and adding it to the Home app. I did download the Meross app after and if you allow it to connect to your network it will find the plug to see if there are any firmware updates without having to setup the dimmer in the Meross app. So good, I bought a second one for future light additions.

> 3 dayThis handy device is just what the doctor ordered for our outdoor Christmas lights. In the past we have used a timer with a dusk sensor. The problem was when a cars headlights hit the sensor it would shut off the Christmas lights, thinking it was daytime. We also had a problem with our outdoor lights, and our spotlights, fooling the sensor. This device, being connected to the internet, knows when sunset is, so it bases its schedule on that rather than a light sensor. It has worked like a champ. Setup was fairly simple if you follow the directions carefully (I didnt at first). I havent tested Google Assistant nor Alexa functionality so I cant comment on that. Weve had it outside for several weeks and it has performed flawlessly.

Greater than one weekHaving two plugs that can be programmed independently of each other is great. I have one plug running my landscape lights with a dusk to midnight timer and the second running a light on Old Glory on a dusk to dawn timer. The plug is small enough that it fits inside the lightkiwi low violated transformer box. So to keep it completely out of the weather I installed it inside with a few command strip pieces of Velcro, fits perfect, everything inside the box, very clean look. The wifi signal connectivity was fine even being inside the stainless steel box. However after a week it started to foul up, the app dropped the light and I had to reinstall it several times, not very hard but annoying. Then where there was once wifi signal it was no longer strong enough. My router is about 35-40 ft. through the one outside wall. I had the same problem with an ihome plug. That was a single plug that ran everything, I upgraded to this plug to run the two zones of outside lights. The solution, I bought a wifi extender and put it in a plug that is withing a foot of the outside plug, through the wall of course. No issues since. Bottom line is it needs a very striping wifi signal, seems like all of the outdoor plugs regardless of manufacture does. In the end a $40 wifi extender was just a part of the project to get things running. 4 stars as in a perfect world I would not need the wifi extender. But very happy with the plug, works great with good signal.
