> 3 dayLike other reviewers, I was extremely disappointed in this products inability to connect to HomeKit. After all, this is one of the few smart plugs to support HomeKit so youd think theyd make sure it worked. To be fair, this is the second batch of these plugs I purchased. I had no problems adding the first batch to HomeKit. Everything worked correctly. However, that was a while back and iOS has been updated and the outlets have had several firmware upgrades since then. My guess is that some incompatibility now exists that hasnt been addressed. The crazy part is, in order to upgrade the firmware, the plug first needs to be added to HomeKit! So if theres a bug in the firmware preventing the connection, then it appears there is no way to update the firmware to resolve it. A very poorly thought out design. What happens when trying to add it to HomeKit is that you first scan the code, the phone connects to the outlet, some information apparently gets updated because the plug reboots, but then things stop. I believe the outlet isnt updating correctly because you can see it doesnt join the home WiFi network. After the update, it still shows its setup network and the led is still blinking green and amber. Whatever is or isnt happening, I must have tried 15 times with two outlets and never got either of them to connect. I reset them, made sure my 5ghz network was turned off, rebooted the phone, tried a different device, disabled HomeKit on the router, etc. Thats a lot of troubleshooting for something that should work out-of-the-box. Finally, I reached out to support and have yet to hear anything back. Support appears to be by email only which means a bunch of back and forth telling me to do things Ive already tried. Its not worth the hassle. These are being returned.

> 3 dayI sent back my vocolincs because they wouldn’t stay connected despite all my efforts to troubleshoot. I got these, and did the firmware upgrade, and now I can use the Meross app and that seems to be working. HomeKit lost the connection after a few hours, but in Meross app all is fine. Plus I like that Meross has Apple Watch integration, whereas vocolinc didn’t. I’m just dipping my toe into the smart home world, don’t have a hub, and right now I just have one lamp on the network. Obviously there is a known issue with HomeKit dropping nearly all the Wi-Fi hub-free devices according to my research. But I’m ok with not having Siri and just pressing a button on my watch. Update: HomeKit is in and out of its own accord. I’ve done nothing to restore its link to the outlet, but it comes back on its own. Meross app is 100. Weird thing I discovered. My phone is back on 5Ghz radio after the initial 2.4Ghz setup, and yet HomeKit and Meross can turn the outlet on/off just fine now. When I first tried it, the app told me on I wasn’t connected. It is SO FREAKIN WEIRD that these things seem like they have a life of their own.

> 3 dayWas able to set up both Meross plugs within 10 minutes. I just used the Apple Home app and didn’t bother installing the Meross app! Context: I had tried another brand (VOCOlink) before this and spent over an hour and failed to install those plugs. Had to return them. So, this brand seems to be more reliable.

> 3 dayI bought the Meross plugs on a whim. These plugs have been a game changer for me. The plugs are easy to setup and connect to Apple Home App. Automation has been a breeze to create with the Home App. I will buy more!

> 3 dayAfter buying (and liking) their HomeKit compatible garage opener, I decided to stay with the Meross brand and try out their Meross Smart Plug Minis as well (I bought the 2-pack). I liked the fact that they did not require me to install yet another hub device just to use them (unlike Belkin, Phillips, etc.) and installation and setup was very easy and quick; I had each smart plug added to HomeKit and ready to control in about a minute! The smart plug response is pretty good, and they seem to stay connected and ready to control without any hiccups (unlike some off-brand smart plugs I tried before that kept disconnecting or losing a signal). Two things of note - they do not have a function to show power consumption, and the LED light on the side of the smart plug (to show the on/off state) is very tiny. Aside from that, there is nothing at all to complain about these smart plugs. So, if youre looking for HomeKit-compatible smart plugs that just work with no hassle (easy setup, no extra hub required) the Meross Smart Plug Minis are an excellent choice!

Greater than one weekThese are the first smart plugs Ive tried and so far they are great and I plan on buying more. I bought these because they worked with Apple HomeKit and the first one I tried to set up caused a little bit of difficulty. I managed to get it to work within the app before I made it work with home kit but otherwise once it did work with homekit everything went well. I used one for the lamp my fan in the living room and everything is working. There were no problems with the wifi, they connected instantly. If youre really into things that expand the use for HomeKit these are perfect. And the price is perfect for a pack of two instead of buying only one of the more expensive plugs these are the ones to go to. And i think that the clicking sound to make sure that they turn on is pretty cool. I look forward to more homekit Meross products.

> 3 dayI tried over an hour to add it into HomeKit, and still failed. Finally linked it with alexa. After online search, I found it is actually due to the terrible design from Apple.

> 3 dayThese are working fine after a little experimentation. You plug them in and scan the barcode with your iPhone, and thats it. Except HomeKit reports theres a firmware update you need the Meross app to apply. I suspect thats just to get you to install the app. It was working fine without the update. Once added to their app you can apply the firmware, but that made them much less reliable. I ended up unpairing them from both systems, uninstalling the app and starting over in HomeKit. After that theyve been fine. It was a bit of a hassle-- pick one platform and stick to it. UPDATE: After a few weeks I have to subtract a star. At least twice a week Ill get Automation failed ... Accessory is not reachable. If youre controlling your holiday decorations fine, but dont use these for anything important. UPDATE 2: After using these for about 5 months now, I have to knock them down to 2 stars. Theyre just too unreliable. If triggered manually they usually function immediately, but often dont report their status to HomeKit so your phone has the warning icon. When run via automation its a coin toss if it will work. I have a strong Wifi connection, a 2020 iPad acting as a HomeKit hub, the firmware was updated-- no excuses. These are just mediocre at best, and quite frustrating.
