Im not a low voltage expert so I can only express from the feeling after using it. Does work but the internet speed is not as good as if I connect the modem directly (drop by 100mbps for a 500mbps internet). I dont know if this is normal. But I need these switches so I will keep them.

Got the GS116 quickly. It installed without any problems. It works well in my development environment where Im moving large files from one machine to another. Ive always liked Netgear products and this one is no exception.

Switch died 6 months after it was put into service. It powers on, but does not transmit any data.

Needed an 8-port switch to distribute my incoming internet signal to CAT5 ports throughout my apartment. Works perfectly and speeds are good.
