> 24 hourI use Netgear devices as integral components for my home network. This is an unmanaged switch. It is connected to an Ethernet cable and provides Ethernet connectivity to seven other devices. It cannot be configured and does not have any software. It is also NOT a PoE switch.

> 24 hourDevice did not work as a managed switch. Discovery app could not find it on the LAN to log in. Documentation included of little help nor docs online. Tech support was unable to solve the problem. Sending it back for refund.

> 24 hourLiving in Florida these things get hit by lightening so I always keep a spare or two ready to go. This last lightening hit took out two of my NetGear switches, but as expected did not get anything else on the network. 100% opinion here, but I feel as though they act like fuses for the network. Sure it sucks that they get hit, but it would be way worse if my router took the hit or my wired computers. These switches are plug and play.

> 24 hourI hooked it up to network port of nest wifi router. Works flawlessly. It is set it and forget it setup. Each of the port is 1G ethernet, so that helps with throughput as well.

> 24 hourI did not need 8 ports but the small cost diff from 5-port to 8-port made it attractive. This lets my 1GB network cards on my four desktops to run at 1Gb transfer speeds without going through my 100Mb Router. However, the problem with Windows 10 not talking to older Windows versions remains unsolved. So while my XP and W98 PCs now have 1Gb transfer access, I still have to use a USB storage unit off my 100Mb router to effect transfers to/from my two W10 machines. I had hopes. Sigh. Even so, it is nice to have my W10 units transferring at 1Gb speed. Hint to novices, run this off one of the four ports on your router. The network to benefit from the managed router controls should look like: World === Cable modem === Router/Firewall === 1Gb Switch === PCs
