Absolutely amazing large aperture for this price range. Excellent for low light and portraits.

I am very new to digital photography, and had been using the kit lens on my D3200 for about a year. Not a horrible lens, but I knew I could get better quality photos with something different. Once I decided it was time to explore different lenses, I did extensive research as to which would provide the best portrait photography without breaking the bank, and this was mentioned in several places. I actually ended up purchasing it from Best Buy, only because I was impatient and could pick it up in the store that day. Otherwise, the prices were comparable.

First thing straight of the bat is its angle of view this lens on a crop sensor body is 52.5 mm equivalent which means it is a standard lens so you can do photography ranging from landscapes to street as its angle of view is close to our eye.

What can I say, a great lens that performs extremely well and is brilliant in low light and in my opinion a must have in your kit bag.

Forget the zoom lens and buy this! Absolutely unbelievable quality in low light. The image quality is great and some may find that the lens is not sharp enough. I use this lens to also record video. The quality is absolutely astounding on my Nikon D3500 when recording. After recording video, you will hear the lens trying to focus when the video is played back. When an external mic is used, no worries. Of course this will have to edited in a video editing program.

This lens is a great normal lens for DX format cameras.

Perfect lens for lifestyle photos. Indoor low light capabilities are okay. It does create a lot of lens distortion if you use this on a full frame body. Mostly fixable in LR though & sometimes I like the extra drama it adds.
