> 3 dayWas a lifelong Samsonite owner and decided to try the Travel Pro Elite 20 in. shell with laptop slot. Overall very good. Used it on three plane trips and two conferences. The good: strong body, excellent four wheel maneuverability, expandable to another inch or so, fits perfectly in overhead bin and is compliant with FAA regs, so never a worry no matter which airline you use, or the mood of the staff at check in. Very good for a short trip, or a week long trip if you have easy access to laundry machines. If you add a Travel Pro duffel bag, it’s perfect. The bad: After seven months, I was sliding the zipper that controls expandability and the pull broke off the zipper assembly. That’s when I first noticed it was made of cheap fake leather. This is unacceptable for a high end offering of luggage. Samsonite always used sturdy metal pulls on their outside zippers. A zipper for expandability will always receive more pull and stress. Was Travel Pro trying to save 50 cents on a $430 item? I then noticed the interior compartment zippers also contain the fake leather pulls on their zippers. When packing, the compartments expand and these pulls will eventually break. I had to purchase replacement metal pulls with carabiner mechanisms. Totally unacceptable for Travel Pro’s top offering. Hence the deduction of two stars for durability. Other than that, a solid, good-looking piece of luggage. However, I’m seriously disappointed in the cheap zipper pulls. Shame on Travel Pro.

14-06-2025The external dimensions of the Travelpro Platinum are the maximum allowable (not expanded) for overhead compartments on global flights (if the airline boarding attendants check the dimensions). I purchased this luggage for travel to Mexico. The ball bearing wheels are smooth and stable for rolling through airports (and boarding escalators using the two wheel rolling position). The interior is easy to pack and cram in clothing for a five day trip augmented by an under seat bag. The Platinum design stands out from the typical black roll aboard bags.

> 3 dayI travel a lot throughout the year whether it is train or airline related so good luggage is important to me. This suitcase is very well made and the hard side keeps my items secure and protected. The built in TSA approved lock is a great feature for me as I often leave my bags at the front of the hotel when I arrive too early for checkin. The 360 wheels work great on this and make pushing and pulling it a breeze. The zippered compartments are great and keep your items in place on both sides, as well as the smaller compartments built onto the separators. The best part is the 5 year warranty that will fix any issues with the bag. I am happy with the quality of this case, it even comes with a little drawstring bag for storage.

Greater than one weekI love this luggage, every feature is thoughtful and practical for travel. The maneuverability is so smooth, I glided through the airport. All the zippers work well and the charging option was so convenient. This was slightly smaller than my previous carry-on luggage but I didn’t notice the difference too much. The expanded zipper area helped. I also like that there was a pocket accessible from the outside. I could put my mask and other easy to reach items.

> 3 dayI like the utility of this luggage piece. You have access to an external USB charging port which makes recharging cell phones in the airport easier. The pockets are well designed to help with article separation. It wheels well and is comfortably controlled through the extendable handle. While I welcome the TSA locking mechanism, they always seem to break mine open instead of using their key to open them so Ive given up on locking luggage (I wish somebody would hold airports accountable for preventable luggage damage; would it really kill you to ask me to open the luggage instead of prying open a lock you supposedly have a key for!?!). The dark blue is nice looking and the smaller size is great for use as a carry on; though the compact carry on version is probably sized slightly better.

> 3 dayThe item seemed nice upon arrival but broke on first trip. One of the wheels doesnt rotate properly any more and a band (appearance only) ripped off. For the money this is ridiculous. Id expect this out of $100 luggage, not a piece costing this much. Going back to samsonite
