> 3 dayI got this in January and had no issues when ironing seams and small blocks. When I decided to make masks to help protect my family and friends, I ran into problems making bias tape. With my prior ironing boards, I could run my iron along the bias tape as it came out if my bias tape maker, and iron the creases down. When I did that with this mat, the cotton setting on my iron must be too hot. The wool charred orange (and damaged the cotton I was using) and most alarmingly, left sticky black residue on my (T-Fal) iron. I spent 4 hours the next day cleaning the plate of my iron (not making masks). I went back to my mask making, tossing the fabric I’d been using (hey, I’m working through stash fabric, maybe I was mistaken about fiber content) and switched to new fabric that I knew was 100% cotton. Within moments, I could tell by the smell that the same thing was happening! I spent another couple hours cleaning off the black, gooey mess. I cleaned every inch of that iron. Maybe something got in the steam tank? Did a vinegar rinse. Maybe something was stuck in the iron plate? I cleaned and rinsed everything. Took my iron upstairs, flipped my wool pad to the other side.... and immediately started picking up sticky gunk and fuzz from my wool mat. I’m so disappointed. No matter how convenient, this isn’t worth ruining fabric and my iron (but at this point, I had to use abrasive cleaners on my iron - which has performed beautifully for 15 years - so I may have to replace it because the coating is now in bad shape in places.) Can I still return this pad?

Greater than one weekI had bought one of the ironing mats that attaches to the dryer top with magnets, and it was a disappointment. The wrinkles never came out of it, and it was too thin. The wool mat is wonderful. I ordered a size to fit on my sewing machine cabinet right by my machine, and it is perfect for ironing seams when sewing. The wool ironing mat arrived well-packed, and it has been a great addition to my sewing accessories.

> 3 dayIt’s a great pressing mat and does everything it’s supposed to, but it STINKS! Every time I use it, I have to open up all the windows and doors (and the smell still lingers in my room). It smells like a barn every time I use it, and the smell is as strong as ever even after 2 months of continuous use. Note: I’ve been ironing dry because I read that steam makes it smell even worse.

> 3 daySince I started sewing, I need to iron a lot of fabrics. I have purchased few cheap ironing mats over the past 2 years, travel size, I place it over a kitchen cutting board and use valcore to secure it. Came across this wool ironing mat from instagram and it seems like a thing to try since I need to iron on a daily basis. It was more costly than my budget, however it was well worth it. Everything iron quickly now. Simple ! So very glad I made the purchase.

> 3 dayI took my new pressing mat to quilt camp so that several people could try it out. I was looking for feedback for myself and also allowing others to try one before purchase. Most users really liked it and some intend to purchase one. Works best with a hot iron - not one in the warming cycle. Seams did not show on top of block due to the thickness of the mat.

Greater than one weekI bought this wool mat to replace a Steady Betty I purchased to press quilt-as-you-go blocks. I was not happy with the foam surface on the Steady Betty and while it is great to hold quilt block pieces to see how they work together, the foam is such that it is not suitable as an ironing surface (we felt it might melt). I love this small 13.5 square wool mat. It is perfect to use with my miniature iron to press quilt-as-as you blocks.

> 3 dayI’ m sure that this product will work great, seems to be nice quality. I can’t give it 5 stars because the first one I ordered ( 17” x 24” ) was not the right size. The label/sheet showed that size but it was actually a square with measurements of 17” x 17”. I could clearly see where someone must have put a note on it saying it wasn’t the ride and perhaps sent back. I contacted Amazon and explained that I would keep the item if they would adjust the price and that I didn’t have time to return this one. I work 64-72 hrs a week and I would have to drive 35 miles to take it to UPS or Fed Ex. It would have been fine had they just did a price adjustment but I got a new one shipped (17” x 24” which was the right measurements) but then was charged for it again. So basically I paid full price for 2 of them with one not being the right measurements.

> 3 dayI love this mat, I bought a 17 X 17 mat a couple of days prior to ordering this one. I loved the first one so much I ordered a second one to travel to retreats with and small enough to fit down the side of sewing bag without bending it. Great product and works just like they advertise. Suggestion to anyone out there wanting to try a mat, this is the one to try. Might be a little more expensive but worth every penny. I will never buy another brand of mat...

> 3 dayI was a little afraid to order this product from anyone, because of the problem of black gunk getting on fabric and iron listed in some reviews. I am glad I took a chance. First thing I did was try it on the wool setting. No black gunk. It didnt do a real good job of getting wrinkles out of fabric, but I picked one that had been folded for a while. I put the iron on the cotton setting waited a couple of minutes, and it was fine. I used a little spray bottle I had. I sprayed some water on it, and the wrinkles came out fine. No Black Gunk. I dont know why other reviewers got bad results, but I did not. I do appliqué, and this is going to be a blessing.
