I borrowed one of these from a friend to help and pressing piecework while quilting. These are amazing. They make such a difference compared to a standard ironing board cover. The seams disappear. It is also very useful when doing appliqué. You can pin directly on the mat and carry the mat to the ironing board. I love the feel of this woman. The thickness is perfect and is very consistent material throughout. Highly recommend this for any sewing projects. Wish I had known about it sooner!

A smaller surface for small pressing jobs. Works great on a table top.

So much better than my small tabletop ironing board. Perfect for small pressing but also great for large items. I can lay them out on my cutting table, put this underneath, and press easily instead of having large quilt tops slide off my large ironing board.

Update: after leaving my original 3 star review I was contacted by the company. They were very helpful and gracious! We discovered that the issue was actually with the steam. While the steam will not ruin the wool mat, it does get through the wool and down to the surface below. While I am disappointed with the steam part (because I originally purchased it because of its claim to “work with steam!” — which they have removed as a result of my conversation with them). I have decided to keep it and continue using it. I just know now to use steam with caution. Aside from that, I was very pleased with their customer service! Thanks Jessica!! Original review: I was so excited to get this mat! I work in a relatively small space and was looking forward to using this on top of my cutting mat because the description talks about how protective it is of the surface you place it on but I nearly ruined my cutting mat by placing this on top of it and just testing it briefly - and that was by keeping the cardboard under the wool mat! I am still deciding if i will keep it or return it. I do think its a great tool for sewing and quilting and i got the 17 x 24 which is a great size. I am just really disappointed that it doesnt serve the purpose i wanted.

I gave this product to my Mom in law as a gift and she loves it!! She has shown it to all of her quilting friends and I expect they will be ordering their own. In fact, it is on my list of must have quilting accessories for my own quilting room. It is a top quality mat with smooth wool and no creases! Great product!!

This is my 3rd one that I have purchased, because I have a new custom ironing station and have the wool pressing pads lined up next to each other under the top ironing cover. They work great in providing a solid base for my pressing needs, especially with steam. The 3 stars for value for money is only because I needed to buy 3 of them to cover my top and that got to be pretty pricey.

First, the product. The wool pressing mat is very well made and thicker than I expected. Quite solid, so I feel it will hold up over time - (will have to come back to confirm). It does hold the heat well and the fabric being pressed does not move around or stretch like on my other padded surface - a bonus when pressing wool and bias edges. Second, customer service. I was sent the wrong size mat. I wasnt sure what to do as I havent had a problem like this with Amazon before. I called the phone number on the label and the gentleman who answered immediately started the process to make things right. I was sent a prepaid return label so all I had to do was drop off the return and I received the correct size mat in just about 3 days. Now that is true customer service - more companies could take note and follow suit - especially having an actual person answer the phone!! Thank you!!

I was a little afraid to order this product from anyone, because of the problem of black gunk getting on fabric and iron listed in some reviews. I am glad I took a chance. First thing I did was try it on the wool setting. No black gunk. It didnt do a real good job of getting wrinkles out of fabric, but I picked one that had been folded for a while. I put the iron on the cotton setting waited a couple of minutes, and it was fine. I used a little spray bottle I had. I sprayed some water on it, and the wrinkles came out fine. No Black Gunk. I dont know why other reviewers got bad results, but I did not. I do appliqué, and this is going to be a blessing.
