Great alternative to the XX1 drive train. Recently set up my bike as a 1x10. If you run a derailleur without a clutch then you will still need a chain guide. Dropped my chain a lot on the first ride without it, mostly while hitting drops and jumps. Still a great looking and light weight chainring.

Extremely noticable upgrade in chain bite and shifting as well as chain tension in certain gears seems much tighter n less slop. Use with shorter conversion bolts to remove inner 64bcd ring and rock just a single up front ditch the front deraileur and shifter etc

Graet product for 1x setup. No chain drops. No chain guard

First of all, this is the Narrow/Wide chainring that has tooth profiles that mimic the SRAM XX1 stuff - made to retain your chain. I bought one of these when they were first released and have been putting it through the ringer on the trails of the Wasatch. I couldnt be any happier with this product. The price is better than the competition and the design works great. I have yet to loose my chain while running this ring and my Shimano Zee 10 speed rear derailleur. Not only is the chain retention flawless without any sort of chain guide, it runs very silently too. If you are looking to convert your drivetrain to a 1x set-up, do not hesitate to get one of these.

Love it! I went from a 2x10 to a 1x. I replaced my two front (24/38) with this 30T NW. I have an 11/36 in back and all seems well for 90% of what I ride. I ride in the Pacific NW Washington. So its a lot of trail single track, mountain climbs and of course DESCENTS! I will struggle a little more than before on the steepest climbs, but I get so much more in return. No more front derailleur or shifter. I made room for my dropper post lever. Now the controls are more simple. I coupled this RF NW with a rear clutch derailleur and now my chain is not gonna come off any more!!!! I used to drop chains on every ride and slap my chain stay constantly... NOT ANYMORE! To make this even better, the LIME GREEN matches my bike too! When my rear cassette needs to be changed, I will go to something around 40T for a granny low. Then, I think this will be perfect... Installation was easy too. I coupled the RF NW with my Shimano Deore Hollowtech cranks and its like they were made for each other! I used my OEM hex bolts to drive directly into this chain ring. No need to buy shims or shorter screws if you have the right crankset... You dont even need to use the female side of the OEM bolts. The male side threads directly into the chainring.

Cant go wrong with Race Face. Excellent chain ring. 30T is good on a 29er hard tail 1-10 setup for all around cross country riding. Havent slipped a chain yet with no guide. The Narrow Wide profile works as claimed.
