> 3 dayHad this heater bulb running 24/7 so far since may of 2017, that’s almost 6000 hours, and I’ve had no problems

> 3 dayIt certainly didnt break on me or anything, but it didnt emit enough heat for my hedgehogs cage that I felt super comfortable leaving him unattended for long periods of time in the winter.

> 3 dayI does not generate enough heat to keep my bird warm.

> 3 dayVery good heater. We use it for our Outside pet birds during the winter and they always bundle up next to it. Delivers plenty of Heat without any problems so Far, but Ive read that unscrewing and re-screwing it too many times can ruin them. I suggest using them in the Holder below, as that will funnel the heat towards your target pet. [...]

> 3 dayThis is a ceramic HEAT emitting bulb. No light. They last much longer than traditional light bulbs and you can leave them on all night to maintain a warm temperature for your cold blooded friends. I highly recommend them because of, well as I mentioned they last MUCH longer than traditional heat bulbs and can be left on at night without irritating or keeping your reptiles, etc... awake. Or yourself if they happe to be in the same room with you. As mentioned above (with the attached picture of a burn on a childs hand) they do get very HOT. This is no different than a light bulb or a stove top. If something is meant to heat a 60-100gallon tank/terrarium to around 80-100 degrees (F). Then one should assume that they actually maintain a constant temperature of much higher at the source in order to fulfill their intended use. The stove in your kitchen is used to heat up your food. I think that most responsible people know that you should not touch a hot stove unless youre intending to be severely burned. This heats an environment for tropical/desert dwelling cold blooded animals. So its HOT. My point being. If you play with fire... YOU GET BURNED! Watch yourselves and your children (especially) that way you dont try to blame an object like ICE for making your HOT chocolate COLD! The product works exactly as described and please ignore anybody that blames heat for being hot. My review of this product comes from years of using many types of heat sources for many different reptiles and in my honest (possibly expert at this point) opinion. If you want to keep a healthy cold blooded animal- lizards/reptiles, turtles, snakes or any animal that does not produce their own body heat like mammals. The best possible options/set ups are as follows- Use a Heat Emmiter like this or any type of your choosing (I would check multiple review sources when deciding the equipment youre going to use for a pet that you care for and whos life is in your hands), then for a light source/extra light- most of these animals require vitamin d + other vitamins from direct sunlight in order to properly grow, digest food and generally live a healthy life- ALSO purchase a UVA/UVB light source. Tube lighting/ lighting fixtures (like you would see above a fish tank, warehouse or office; made to fit your terrariums though) are a good option for this purpose. Do plenty of research before spending a ton of money, even though it will not be very cheap either way, to find out what YOUR specific animal/pet(family member to most) will need. Most if not all cold blooded animals that are kept in captivity as pets require much more than just light, a little heat and some pellet food purchased on a shelf at Walmart. Heat/Basking bulbs are a good choice as well as the ceramic emitters but are unpredictable in their longevity. Look up or google Murcury Vapor bulbs for reptiles if youre trying to save a little money in the short term. They will cost, for a good reliable bulb, around 70-100$ plus the price of the light fixture. The internet is possibly the best source of information right at your fingertips; to learn all of your pets needs, possibly the most important tool used by individuals who choose to purchase an exotic pet such as reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc... When I got my first iguana I was told to give it a heat rock (avoid heat rocks at all costs- they WILL burn your animal) and lettuce. THATS IT! And that could possibly be the worst possible information about a tropical reptile such as this. So a ceramic heat emitter or above basking source of your choosing is a necessity. Also a light source which produces UVA/UVB (I always forget which is ACTUAL sun light so double check the UVA and UVB meanings and uses) for a source of vitamins needed/absorbed by Sun Light- as I mentioned above you can get heat and sun together in one bulb but most bulbs are either basking(heat) or Sun(UVA/UVB) but they or any bulb for that matter, do not have a long lifespan as is and the bulbs are only able to reproduce the sun light effects for around 6months to 1 year before they need to be replaced. Even if theyre still giving off light, they may have lost the ability to produce UV light. I will try to attach a picture of a way to test if theyre still producing UV light. I use a Solar Powered Dancing Groot which as is described will dance or move when placed in direct sun/UV light. This is not the best or most accurate test but there are plenty of actual Solar powered devices or UV testers in which you can use- or just replace the bulb once or twice within a 12month period or as described on the package~ the windows in your home as well as the glass in your aquarium BLOCK sunlight or more importantly, the vitamins and important nutrients given off by the sun. Which means do not place your aquarium/terrarium in front of a picture window or any window for that matter and assume that the animal will receive the benefits of the sunlight. Basically speaking, you wont get a tan laying on the couch in front of your living room large picture window And neither will your cold blooded friend. SO that covers sunlight and an above heat source. I dont mean to drag this on and I will try to wrap it up very quickly here. I have just seen more than my share of cold blooded animals are animals of the exotic type which people have purchased with little to no knowledge of even their basic needs or even the environment in which these animals come from. Desert animals, such as bearded dragons, etc.. obviously need a hot dry climate where as tropical animals, such as Iguanas, etc... need a hot location in their home in which they can bask in but most also require a cooler area (which desert animals need as well I should say) so that they may choose the climate which best suits them. Tropical animals however also require a high level of humidity within their enclosure. Both desert and tropical environments/terrariums should contain a thermometer of some type to keep track of the heat level in their home but with tropical animals you should also keep a hygrometer within their enclosure as well. You can purchase a thermometer and hygrometer digital combo device at a relatively cheap price on Amazon or even your local pet store. I would always recommend digital as they seem to be the most accurate in my opinion. If you are not completely sure which type of environment your pet lives is found in the wild, that is another source of information in which you can easily find by searching the Internet for specific type of animals and their needs- I.e. food source, environment, temperature and humidity levels.- Although some may say this last item is not 100% necessary but is relatively inexpensive and in my opinion as well as most other reptile enthusiasts very important, is a heating pad which is placed beneath the aquarium/terrarium and leave on at all times. This will help not only to keep the bottom of the enclosure, The substrate i.e. sand or wood chips, etc. nice and warm for the animal. This is important because many cold-blooded animals will find a warm spot to rest their undercarriage/stomach over, such as a Rock heated by the sun in their natural environment, (again avoid heat rocks because they will cause burns due to excessive heat emission to which most of these animals are not actually able to feel even after it has began to burn them pretty badly) The reason for this being that it helps to aid their bodys digestive system. I hope this is helped anybody who may have any questions regarding their new or existing exotic pet. I cannot stress enough how important it is to utilize the Internet and resourceful webpages I like to search for specific needs regarding the exact type of animal you are caring for. I personally still find myself searching for items this way just out of curiosity or in hopes of further educating myself and the needs of my cold blooded pets. I also have a food chart for my bearded dragon as well as our iguana saved on my home screen of my iPhone. This way when I am shopping for the greens, fruit or other vegetables for them to eat. I can quickly look through the chart to decide if something is healthy for them or not for instance if they are out of the type of greens, etc.. which I use as a staple food for them. I am not employed by Amazon/ ZooMed. Nor am I receiving a discount for this review. I just care about the well being of these animals in which people know very little about other than they look pretty or will attract attention. I also do not like people giving poor reviews in regards to an item that works exactly as described because they are injured by said item due to their own ignorance or negligence. Review Items based on their effectivity and how accurately they are described and work as they are described. Thank you that is all have a good day happy new year.

> 3 dayThis hangs in our sunroom for our large iguana, and we both love it because we dont have to deal with bright light all the time, but she gets all the heat she needs. Makes both of us happy!
