> 3 dayTortoises must have a heat option that does not end when the sun goes down. Humans must have light that ends as we lay our head upon the pillow. Meet the tool that satisfies both our needs. Form and function are as simple as could be. Using a high heat fixture, this will supply a heat option for reptiles and the like. As a tip, please keep in mind that this CHE is better mounted in a spot that is both to one side on the tank/pen and can be raised or lowered to set the right temperature at substrate level. I say this as I mentioned heat option earlier, you want them to be able to move near it as needed and away when not. This also works wonders by connecting to a timed power strip, such as

> 3 dayI recently decided to swap out my 75W nighttime heating light with this heating element. I was simply tired of the unobtrusive red glow coming from my bearded dragons area at night. And I was hoping for a slight reduction in heating related costs. This one in particular doesnt produce quite the comparable amount of heat as my bulb but it does however radiate and transfer a comfortable amount of heat to other objects in the terrarium. E.g. The sand, the rocks and faux rock wall back board. So while I feel the heat output should be considerably more I am still overall pleased with its performance.

> 3 dayRan for about 4 months and died. The hoops you have to jump through for a warranty replacement are ridiculous, and most of it has to be done as soon as you get it.

> 3 dayThis is great for keeping my snakes cage warm. The only problem is that it only lasted for 6 weeks. Not sure how this product can be advertised to last for 5 years. So not true. Disappointed. UPDATE I contacted the manufacturer for this product and after answering a few questions, they are sending me a new ceramic emitter. They informed me too that they have a 2 year manufacturer warranty.

> 3 dayFirst bulb came broken but they sent a replacement. Its really hot, and keeps the cage directly below it toasty. My hedgehog seems to like it. Well see how long it lasts...

> 3 dayGreat light and keeps the tank nice and warm. Had I been smarter, I wouldve realized that it doesnt emit light - just heat. Not a big deal since my tank is by a window.

Greater than one weekIve been using this heat emitter for about a year now, and its the best source of heat Ive used yet! I am using it to heat a 55 gallon glass terrarium for my ball python. I loved this one so much, I ordered another for my new Brooks kingsnake terrarium as well. They do get very hot to the touch, but I have been very successful using this with an adjustable reptile lamp and a temp gun to track the temperatures. Expensive, but it has a much longer life than any light-producing bulb, and it takes away the stress in nocturnal reptiles of having a light on all the time (as my reptiles are in my bedroom, this is a big plus for me as well). My ball pythons appetite went waaaay up while using this instead of a fluorescent light! Just be careful to keep it away from anything flammable or melt-able, because it really is hot enough to start a fire. Use it with the correct wattage lamp with a ceramic base, over a steel mesh cage lid if you plan on heating reptiles with it.
