I havent actually used the product yet because I dont have a fixture large enough to support it, but I trust the product brand and Im sure it will work perfectly. Got it for a great price and had super fast shipping.

The first CHE I ordered actually had the glazing chipped on the ceramic, so I had to send it back. (The box was fine, so I think this was a manufacturers issue.) It actually worked, but after I thought about it, I was worried what that would do to my warranty-- So luckily Amazon is super easy to do returns with. Anyway-- This is really effective in taking the chill out of the warm side of my tortoise table. I also like that it does it WITHOUT glaring light into my torts eyes. I live in an old house in Wisconsin and it gets chilly at night, but I am not too worried about things with this heater set on a thermostat. I like it so well that I actually bought a second one in case my cold-end of the tort table proves too cold this winter. This really needs to be used with a wire cage-type light fixture (porcelain socket)- Zoo Med as well as other brands also make these types of fixtures. It gets seriously hot. When I first installed it, I decided to move it in the fixture (bending it down more) and accidentally slipped and hit my finger on the edge of the ceramic heater-- it burned instantaneously and hurt like heck!-- so whatever animal you are trying to heat, make sure you have it set up so its not accidentally bumped!

We raise Miniature Schnauzers (micro, tea cup & toy Schnauzers) in our home. The ceramic heaters do a wonderful job keeping our new born puppies body temperatures stable and allowing us to get a good nights sleep in the dark. We also use matts under the puppies that stay at body temperature and are washable.

This product is very effective in my 4x4 chicken coop. I highly recommend it for chicken coops as it doesnt give off any light so they can have darkness & heat at night.

I expect this to produce more heat.... Takes a long time to heat up.... A basking light at the same wattage produces about 30-50 degrees more heat... I put this on my 40 gallon broader tank and it isnt enough will only keep tank 10 above ambient temp.

Got this for our show rabbits and they work great. I like the fact that you can provide heat without having a light on them at night. This puts out ample heat seems to be well made. I use another one for my chicken coop and the chicks stay nice and toasty on the cool nights.

Outstanding product- I bought two of these six years ago (one as a backup) and I just today replaced the original. I use it for a bird cage (with a dimmer) approx six months per year so I figure something like 26,000 hours for the original. Not bad at all. Now I have to order another backup. Definitely worth the money for the life you get from it.

I am a fan of Zoo Med brand products, and this ceramic heat emitter does not disappoint. It provides reliable heat through a normal light fixture. We have ours in an off-brand metal dome, and the domes ceramic fixture becomes warm to the touch but will not burn you if touched accidentally. The majority of the heat is properly directed away from the flat portion of the bulb, and seems to penetrate well into the cage without much disbursement beyond the expected cone. By putting the lamp on a dimmer switch and adjusting the height of the lamp, you can easily control the amount of heat to your basking spot. We currently have ours at full power since the house is colder in the winter. Our blue tongued skinks certainly appreciates the penetrating heat and has set up a new basking spot under this lamp. Like most Amazon purchases, the lamp was well padded and properly packaged, so it arrived in perfect shape.

Im using this for a bearded dragon, at 12-14 inches from basking log it keeps the temps at around 95-100F degrees. This is on a 40g terrarium, the cool side stays around 75 and the floor is around 85 which is like 16-18 inches from lamp. I didnt get a lamp fixture with a dimmer or thermostat, but this works out just fine for now. I highly recommend this for high temp reptiles.
