Updating my review of this card. At first it works great with solid write speeds and solid read speeds. However, after sustained writes and reads, the card overheats and drops to around 40MB/s write rates, which is utterly useless to me.

It does the job, steam deck works and ssd speed is improved significantly. Around 3.500 mb read and 3.200 write.

This upgrade was A+. Thanks to previous reviewers here. Random reboots on the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 we’re frustrating but expected. Replacing the drive was very easy. I chose to fresh install Windows 11. Worth re-enforcing: Install ALL Windows software updates. Use Microsoft’s free Surface Diagnostic Tool. There was a problem with failure to install certain updates. Many YouTube videos available to address but I didn’t need it. Important lesson learned: Keep your Surface 8 Pro’s 6W power cord plugged into grid power. I power cords from older Surface models. Don’t know why but it made a big difference. Hardware-wise no issues so far. From my perspective pertaining digital photography the Surface 8 Pro got way faster after upgrade from 256GB to 512GB. Prior to drive upgrade Raw Image processing choked even with a brand name external 1TB SSD used for cache. Would recommend.

I picked up a 64GB Steam Deck as I figured it was a fantastic price and I was planning to just install everything to SD cards. Thats worked fine for about 6 months, but I noticed that Steam has swap files that fill up that 64GB drive over time and before I ran into issues, I decided to pop the original drive out and put a bigger drive in. When I ordered this drive, it was on sale for $90, cheaper than the price difference between the 64GB and 256GB Steam Decks and twice the storage. The install itself was easy enough, just follow the iFixit guide, and I liked that the Sabrent shipped in a padded metal sleeve that allows me to protect the original drive as well in case I need to send it back for warranty work.

I bought this to upgrade my Steam Deck from 64GB to 1TB and it works great. Just followed the guide on ifixit to install. It is well worth the money. Love mine.

I initially purchased the 1TB Sabrent Rocket 2230 to upgrade my Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ from its stock 128gig SSD to the 1TB Sabrent. While it was fast (included picture is benchmark in my Surface) and worked great, there are compatibility issues with Gen 4 SSDs and Microsoft Surface. This is not just a Sabrent thing, this impacts other brands of Gen 4 SSDs as well!! Unfortunately the tweaks and changes posted on line did not FULLY resolve my reboot issues so I had to go back to the stock drive. The drive also works great in an external enclosure, like the Sabrent EC-SNVE, for portable external storage. It maxes out the USB-C interface speed. Rather than returning, I decided to use the Sabrent Rocket to upgrade/replace the older Gen 3 SSD in my Desktop to this Sabrent Rocket. Its working GREAT! and a very nice speed upgrade too! Over all, while it didnt fit the purpose I originally intended, Im very happy with it! IF/When Microsoft fixes the issue impacting the Surface devices, Ill buy another Sabrent Rocket 2230 for my SP7+.
