Safety 1st Magnetic Cabinet Locks, 4 Locks + 1 Key

> 3 dayEasy to install with a nice template sticker to use. They stay locked very well, sure if you pulled extremely hard they may break but to keep someone out it works great. One of the pieces was broken upon opening and could not figure out a way to fix it so I had to toss one away. If you lose the key by chance, just use a standard few dollar pack of magnets from the hardware store.

> 3 dayMaybe these aren’t necessary when it comes to child proofing and you could opt for the cheaper ones, but let me tell you my primary reason why I love these the most.. my daughter doesn’t pull on the cabinets with these on them, repeatedly banging them ever-so-slightly open and shut like what she does with the cheapo cabinet locks that allow the cabinet to open a tad. That’s a sanity-saver right there. I also love that these can be disabled if need be. I stick the key on the frig when not in use.

> 3 dayOur little guy has finally discovered the magical world of cupboards which made us realize additional kid proofing was needed. I tried to install the hook-latch-push down to open-thingys. Yeah, those suck pretty bad. No matter what I did I couldnt get those things to work because of physics. They might work in a parallel universe with parallel universe cupboards but not in this universe. The reviews for all the other options were mixed at best. However these got great reviews. So we decided to try these out. Are they more expensive? Yes...yes they are. Do they work awesome? Yes...yes they do. These lock the cupboard nice and tight. No chance for smashing little fingers, or weaseling something harmful out of the cupboard. The only way to open these is to use the included magnetic key (however any strong magnet will work). I love that you can disable the locks if needed returning your cupboards essentially to pre-rugrat glory. The only downside is forgetting the cupboards are locked which could potentially result in a dislocated shoulder. Oh right...locked. Okay, okay...not that bad but realizing your cupboards are locked takes some getting used to. There have been times when finding the key took a few minutes. So investing in a few extra might be smart. As others have mentioned, the fridge is a GREAT place for the key. As an alternative, hidden in your sons toy basket can be fun too. If you have anything other than flat front doors the magnet key might end up in a weird place. Ours for example ends up on an angle because it rests on a router bevel in the door. No big deal, it just looks a bit weird. Beyond these few small issues we love these. Installation can be tedious but not nearly as bad as the aforementioned plastic-hook monstrosities. Have a baby? Want to keep him/her safe? Buy these. :)

Greater than one weekMake sure that you are very comfortable with a power drill and have a gentle hand before endeavoring to install these. It is a tricky to install and the instructions arent super clear. But once you get them in place, they are fabulous. I love that we can leave them unlocked when our baby isnt around and lock them when he is here. And the magnet idea makes it really easy to open once you figure out the invisible spot to place it on at the door.

Greater than one weekThese work like a charm and are pretty durable. My twins will pull the cabinet doors quite a lot (they are 2.5) and we haven’t had any issues with the locks breaking.

> 3 dayThese locks work well. I like that little one cant get her fingers pinched. The flexibility over other brands to install the lock at the top or side of the cabinet door is nice. Installation was a challenge. On our cabinet, the installation template didnt work. I ended up drilling 3 sets of holes on the first door. I figured out that I shouldnt use the template to determine the placement of holes on the door.

> 3 dayInstallation is straightforward on cabinets. Drawers can be a little difficult because there often isnt a surface to mount the catch or space to manuever a power drill. I had to make shim blocks to mount the latch on, but no other adaptations were necessary.

Greater than one weekWe have a very clever feline companion that will open cupboard doors. One unfortunate habit he has is investigating the garbage under the sink. This is the first cabinet lock that he cant figure out while remaining convenient for the pet parents. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayInstallation pretty easy once you complete the first lock (maybe 30 minutes to install 3 locks, and I am not a very handy person) Our little one has not been able to open the cabinets since installing these locks. The best part is the disable feature which allows us to leave the locks unlocked if we are constantly going to be using a certain cabinet for that time. Also recommended for grandparents because they can leave the locks disabled when grandchild is not around, rather than constantly having to deal with child locks at all times. Very happy so far, going on 1 month and no regrets!

> 3 dayThese were difficult for my husband - a construction worker who builds houses - to figure out how to install on our full overlay cabinets. But nothing else would work right - we tried others, but the latch never would line up right due to the overlay doors. He finally got them installed - unfortunately, he split wood on the inside of the cabinets, but they do work, and well. My son was a little upset once he realized he couldnt get into his favorite two cabinets - where the mixing bowls and serving spoons and spatulas are kept!
