> 24 hourThis is a product that I hate to love. My son gets into everything (and has since he could move). The old fashioned plastic child locks did not cut it for us. He broke those in one week. We got desperate and ordered these. I say, desperate because we have a friend who also has them, and I swore I would never get them because they are such a pain...but we were desperate. These are child proof. These are the only product that I can safely say, is 100% child proof. They can be adult proof as well in the beginning, but you get used to them, and it becomes second nature to grab the magnet. The locks can be switched off from the inside if you need to do so. Ocasionally during holidays or family parties, I will do so, because people tend to get a little cranky when they cant figure out the locks. Its a great feature and option. My oldest messes with this sometimes, but hes not terribly interested in getting into the kitchen stuff anymore, so its not a big deal. I highly highly recommend these. *** if you lose the magnet, a strong one from Lowes or home depot works just as good***

> 24 hourPreface: Absolutely Freaking Amazing! Pros: 1) Easy to lineup and install. After the first or second, you become a pro. 2) Directions were easy to read and easy to follow. 3) Cost efficient 4) Completely hidden from view so your kitchen continues to look awesome! 5) When installed correctly ~ no cabinet rattle. Cons: 1) Wish it shipped with more than 1 magnet tool. 2) Wish there was another color option (black perhaps?) Conclusion: My only negatives arent really even cons. Thats because this system is awesome! We originally installed a set at our old house several years ago when our first born son was born. They worked great, and I absolutely loved the fact that they were hidden from view and easy to manipulate with the tool to get them open. When we moved last year, we ordered up another set because we now swear by these things. Once the kiddos grow up, I doubt well even remove ~ we may just keep them on the cabinets and explain to the new owners/renters how to use them. We have encouraged several new parents to purchase, and are aware of atleast 1 couple that has and absolutely loves them! If I could rate this 10 stars, I would! Its been that awesome!

> 24 hourAfter much research, I decided on these since for my drawers they can be turned on/off. After installing, I ran into a few problems that I had to troubleshoot, and I hope this helps others. First, after installing these according to the directions, my son was able to still open the drawers. It seems that when he pulled on the drawer, he pulled up a little which pushed the part that sticks up on the lock down, allowing it to slide open. I decided to turn the catch around so the flat side was facing the lock (photo attached). This solved the problem and he cant open the drawer, much to his dismay! Second, my drawers are the type that have the drawer face attached to a thick sided drawer. The catch part of the lock that attaches to the cabinet would bump into the inside of the drawer, not allowing it to close all the way. By turning the catch around (as I had to do for the problem above), this allowed approx. another 1/2 inch for the drawer to slide in. On another note - I have the KidCo Swivel Cabinet & Drawer Lock installed on my cabinet doors and highly recommend for the same reason (able to turn on/off) and you dont have to have a magnet. My son hasnt figured out how to open these yet and doesnt seem to be too interested, so heres hoping that lasts.

> 24 hourIt may sound weird, but I kind of love these things. When our son started walking at 10 months he got into everything and caught his fingers in drawers several times. We installed these all over the kitchen and in the bathrooms and they work great. The downside to these is that its a pain to find the magnet every time you want to open a cabinet. We solved this problem by buying a pack of neodymium magnets and fashioning them with a little handle to make them easier to grip (or you could just buy extra magnet keys). We put one key on the sink (metal) and one on the fridge, which was just about within arms reach of every cabinet in the kitchen. I liked these so much I build a bookshelf with secret compartments that have no handles and can only be opened with magnets. If you screw the magnetic piece down to hard it could cause the lever to bind up an not release. If this happens back off on the screws a little bit until it pops out. Theyve been in for 2+ years and havent had a single issue yet.

> 24 hourThese are a little difficult to install (I think most saftey latches unless the stick on, but those dont work very well when toddlers are yanking on them), but once I got them all installed, they worked great! I babysit twin 12 month olds every week, so I needed to babyproof my kitchen, but I didnt want to have to deal with annoying baby locks all the time. I love that I can flip them on as needed and turn them off when the kids arent there. The keys are easy to use go through really thick cabinets. I had to add a block of wood under the lock to get them to work in my drawers that have an inset panel and the magnet works just fine. When Im not using the key, I just stick it on the bottom of the cabinets and stays magnetized to hidden screws. I have two key to make it easier to grab without always walking across the kitchen. Note:: I thought that a strong earth magnet work to open these in case I lost the key, but those arent strong enough. Only the key works. Its a good idea to have at least 2 keys.

> 24 hourThis is the ABSOLUTE best way to keep your child out of your cabinets!! My only recommendation is to include a second magnet in the kit for forgetful parents who tend to lose the magnet easily. I bought a second pack just to have 2 so I wouldnt be locked out. These are awesome though, my 3 year old son hangs off the cabinets trying to get them open and they still wont budge. They are somewhat annoying if Im in a hurry and I want to get into the cabinets, BUT they are much quicker than undoing one of those child locks. I HIGHLY recommend this products to all parents who want to keep their cleaners safe from little hands. I know most people who I recommended these to said its a pain in the butt to install them, but Ive moved 2 times since Ive ordered them and my boyfriend has taken no more than 30 minutes installing them on our cabinets at each house. Its definitely worth the $$ for a piece of mind that my child is safe.

> 24 hourWe installed these today. It took about 2 hours to install all 8. 6 on cabinets, 2 on drawers. The two drawers took about 30 minutes each (the bulk of the time), because it is very difficult to mount them in such tight quarters. I suppose the ease of installation will depend on your cabinetry and tools available. It seemed my drill bit was a little dull, and thus a bit harder to drill the pilot holes. We also dont have any of the fancy drills that can go around corners and tight spots, so the drawers had to be removed to place the catch, then put back to measure for the lock, then removed again to drill the lock in. The little sticky templates that come for installation do help - but they arent exact, so you will need to do some eyeballing around and maybe trial and error on the first lock until you figure out how they fit. The locks for the drawers, being mounted vertically, seem to be much more finicky to line up. At first we thought they would be unusable, but were able to find a way to mount them to work. However, Im not sure how confident I am in their holding strength. I would caution that these wont work on all cabinets. The instructions state that inset cabinetry may not work. Luckily, our inset cabinets had enough to mount. I tried to link the instruction manual from the Safety 1st site - but cant look it up there by product number. I would recommend you e-mail them: [email protected] and request an instruction manual before purchasing to ensure they will work on your cabinets. An interesting note: Placing these on my granite counter top caused the latches to unlock. I had thought the key was a magnet, but apparently any large enough piece of metal serves as an unlocker. There must be a bunch of ferrite or other metals in the granite which serves the purpose. I suppose this could be a risk if a child was holding a metal toy within an inch or so of the lock, while attempting to pull open at the same time. Im a first time parent, but with the way my 8 month old is picking things up, Id be surprised if she doesnt figure out how to open this stuff within another 4-6 months. -1 star for what could be an easier installation, especially for vertical mounted -1 star for being able to open with a large piece of metal, and not specifically a magnet as I had thought.

> 24 hourInstallation was a breeze with the provided templates! I originally purchased these for my kitchen cabinets and drawers, but I found out that they can not be used on my drawers because my drawers have a front on them making them too thick for the magnet to effectively activate the latch. On our sideboard the front of the drawer is part of the box that makes up the drawer and, therefore, much thinner and works well with these locks. I really wish this information was more readily available in the description prior to purchasing an extra (and now unused) set. The latch is very convenient in that it can be deactivated for those times when you need to move efficiently in the kitchen and baby wont be walking around, so you wont have to get the key everytime you need to toss something in the garbage while cooking. The key itselft sticks nicely to my fridge or range hood, but I imagine someone who may have a much larger kitchen or only one system in multiple rooms may need to order extra keys. The catch could have been a little more adjustable, I found that the bumpers I installed to stop the kids from slamming the cabinet doors kept the latch from engaging the catch. This was an east fix, as I simply put some shims behind the latch during installation. All said, we are very happy with our setup and I believe that this is the best balance of convenience, safety, looks and ease of use that you are going to find.

> 24 hourWow, how nice to have the cabinets locked now! These magnetic locks are nice and strong...my little one cannot get into the cabinets when these locks are engaged. They dont budge at all! Its a little annoying to have to grab the magnet off the fridge to get a door open, but much less so than constantly worrying about what shes grabbing out of them. I would recommend buying an extra magnetic key, although we havent yet. My older daughter accidentally locked the key in their bathroom cabinet, but a magnetic clip we had on the fridge was strong enough to open the lock. Installation wasnt too bad. When one is finished the rest go quickly, especially if you have someone working with you. We only used a couple of the templates. Its easy to reuse them and we wanted to save a couple in case we needed them later. The only cabinet that was troublesome was the narrow one that stores baking sheets. Youll want to consider the width of the opening when planning use of the tools (finding a smaller drill for example...we had to borrow a neighbors for the one cabinet door). I love that they can be engaged or disengaged easily...just push the red/green button. When baby is napping and Im cleaning I dont have to keep reaching for the key. We havent placed these locks in the drawers yet, but Im sure that will soon be necessary as she is growing so fast! Overall these are great little locks and way more effective that those that allow the doors to open a bit (you know the ones...where you push down the plastic tab to open the door the rest of the way). No chance for pinched baby fingers with these :)

> 24 hourSo besides the fact that it does take a while to install, I really like these magnetic baby proof locks in our kitchen cabinets. It keeps our 16 month old from opening the cabinets without anything on the outside of the cabinet appearing as if though its baby proofed. Its a little pricey especially since we had to get 2 packages and you do have to drill into the cabinet, but if your on your first child and plan to have more- these are great. Just dont lose the magnet to open the cabinets ( we stick ours in the fridge) .
