> 3 dayWe have been using these magnetic locks for a year and a half and they are still going strong. My now almost three year old doesnt mess with the cabinets too often anymore since she knows they are locked, but she used to grab two handles and rock back and forth pulling with all of her little might And no issues what so ever! Some of the negative reviewers sound like they may not have properly installed the locks by adjusting each door individually, which would have led to various issues. The installation was only a little tricky but the extra effort was well worth it. My husband used the provided stickers to get them lined up and fully tighten the screws. But he was having a hard time getting the locks to fully engage or some wouldnt release with the magnet. So this mechanically inclined momma got involved. I loosened the screws a little and then I got down on the floor and stuck my head in the cabinet to line the lock up with the latch. Instead of plain old circle holes for the screws to be mounted through, there are elongated holes to allow for adjustment. As others have stated, the inclusion of one key with the set is a little inconvenient. At first my husband was constantly loosing the magnetic key. Drove me CRAZY! But I spent one weekend hounding him to death to ALWAYS put it back in the same place after each and every use. Now, everyone that comes in the house always knows where to find it. FYI, we store ours on the bottom side of our upper cabinets, the magnet sticks to a screw beneath the painted surface.

> 3 dayThis locking system is superb. Its the only system that truly stops a child (or animal) from getting into a cabinet unless they have access to the key. Of course, if you leave the key (or a magnet) in a place where they can get it, access is a snap! So, my wife and I installed brand new kitchen cabinets, and we had, at the time (this was about a year ago), an 18 month old. He was starting to get curious about the cabinets as he got more mobile. We wanted to secure the cabinets in a way that would: 1) Not be noticeable from the outside 2) Could not be easily defeated by a child 3) Could be turned on and off as needed Enter this system. I checked a lot of them out, and this got great reviews, though the install was a little more challenging. Ordered a set (and, later, a 2nd set) to outfit the kitchen. I waited until my 18 month old was not around (think my wife took him to the park) and started on a cabinet. Since I care about my brand new cabinets, I was careful. Measure. Measure again, and mark the holes. Solid wood cabinets, so I pre-drilled a hole, and then screwed in the top bracket. Measured and checked the latch system, and then marked, pre-drilled, and screwed in the latch. Make sure you test the system right away to ensure a clean lock/unlock. Its pretty solid. Yes, if you pull really hard it is possible to pull a cabinet open, but it does take some effort. I like the fact that, because the lock is flush (if you install well), when the cabinet is closed and locked, there is no give - that makes a child lose interest in trying to open, because is does not do anything (in contrast to the ones where you open a little, push down, and then fully open). The key is just a magnet that you put in the [close] vicinity of the lock on the outside of the cabinet. I believe any decently powerful magnet would work, but these are coated in plastic and wont scratch your nice cabinets. I ordered the 8 lock/1 key system, which only gives you one key, obviously. Recommend getting a 2nd key since, if you lose it, you are stuck for a while. We put a hook high up in one of the upper cabinet doors, and hang the key from there, so we alwyas know where it is (and the little dude cant get it!) I later ordered a 2nd system to complete my kitchen, and had 3 leftover. So I took those and intalled them in on the glass doors in my family room entertainment system, so now my son cant touch the receiver buttons (if he did that, hes make sure we never heard sound again), pop out a DVD, or turn the cable box off. Keeping him out of those doors was a great use for the leftover locks, and I keep the key that came with that set hidded behind a statue in the bookcase above the doors. I love the fact that you can easily lock/unlock the system. We regularly leave one cabinet (the garbage/recycling drawer) unlocked, as we use it a lot, and when not cooking. However, our son goes through periods of curiosity about that spot. So, when he shows interest in doing something he should not in trash can, we just lock it. He quickly loses interest and goes away, and we can unlock for later use. This is a well designed, high quality product. We have been using them for over a year and (knock on wood) not lost a key. Weve had no problems with them during this time. If you want a discrete system that enables you to securely lock the cabinets, and you are not prone to losing thngs (like the required key), I highly recommend this. It may cost a little more, but you will be satisfied with what you get.

> 3 dayThis is a great product! What I love about these is the my cabinets do not open at all, not even a tiny crack, so there will be no pinched fingers and no chance of little hands getting into dangerous things. I also liked that the system is invisible, unlike the straps that go in front of the cabinets. Its nice to maintain a house that doesnt look like your little ones have completely taken over! I will admit the installation directions are not great, but I searched YouTube and there was a video posted by a customer on installation! Once you get the first one, it goes fast. It is just a matter of lining things up. Make sure you have a drill bit to pre-drill the holes (be careful not to drill all the way through your cabinet!) The part on the directions I couldnt see was which way to position the catch. The rectangular bar portion faces out, with the curved piece facing in. I installed these half way down on the cabinets because I felt like it would be a stronger hold, verses at the top. Getting used to using the magnetic key to open the doors takes some getting used to...but the fact that you can set them all on unlock for convenience when you need all your cabinets readily available is a nice option. That being said, you have to remember to set them back to the lock position when you are done. We keep the key right on the fridge for easy access. The replacement keys are expensive, but Im wondering if you could use a regular magnet purchased at the store...Im going to try that for a spare. Great product for a great price!

> 3 dayI bought this product based on the one and only review with 5 stars from another parent looking for the best child proofing devices for the house. I am very pleased with the results. This is a solidly built product that is fairly easy to install. The package comes with a template for each lock that allows you to line up the holes without having to use a measuring tape. This saves a lot of time. The best thing about this lock is that it keeps the cupboard doors shut very tight. This eliminates the possibility for children to pinch their fingers or reach into the opening that you would normally get with a latch type lock system. Also, since the lock requires a special key to unlock, theres no concern that children will understand how the lock system works to unlock it by themselves. I even installed this on our Lazy Susan cupboard with no problem. The instructions for the template suggests that you mark the holes with a pencil and then drill. To save some time, you can just drill through the template holes right away and then screw in the lock. Since you get a template for each lock that comes in the package theres no worry that youll ruin the template for the next lock. The first lock took a little time to install, but after that I was able to install locks on the cupboard doors in under 10 minutes per lock.

Greater than one weekWe love these locks!!!! The very best child locks EVEr and we have used so many! You install by screws, not hard, but a necessary piece of info. The nicest feature besides the absolutely effective child locking is that they have a switch which allows you to disengage the locking mechanism. This feature is so nice, especially for those who may only have children around sometimes, grandparents, friends, or in between stages on kids... and you dont always want t deal with a safety lock. Imagine having your granbabies around and not having your DVD cupboard exploited, or your Tupperware drawer I will never be without these again. I even lock the toy cupboard with them giving my only one toy at a time rule some needed backing. I keep the magnetic lock on my fridge and having a few extras isnt unhelpful. I have a few different brands trying or a better price after loving these, and while the others are work fine, these certainly feel the highest quality. Take note, if you do different brands they may use opposite ends of the magnet, making the various keys less compatible with the other sets. Once again love these, and thus is the brand I will buy more of if I need them. If this was helpful, please say so, it makes me happy to know Ive helped someone.

> 3 dayThis is one of those safety products that actually works but is an absolute PAIN to install. Once in, though, it has held up over almost a year of abuse from a very persistent now four and two year old. Every once in awhile, if you dont shut the door firmly, it wont quite latch all the way into place, but once latched my kids havent been able to pop it open again. The magnet it comes with works every time to open it up, and after a few times finding the right spot comes easy. However, installation... Im not a wimpy female. I use power tools correctly, can improvise with what I have at hand, and even read the directions before installing things. This was still one of the most difficult, annoying items to install to the point that I actually only put two of the six in, despite purchasing two full packs to do my entire kitchen in. Instead, I only did the two most important cabinets (sharp knives and chemicals for cleaning) and trusted in my ability to stop my kids before too much damage was done with the rest. So, in short: a good latch that is difficult to put in, but once done lasts forever.

> 3 dayUpdated 4/2/16: I have to admit, my husband installed these. I didnt realize that 2 of the 8 did not work, they wouldnt pop back up after hitting the magnet. So when you close the cabinet doors, it wouldnt automatically lock...and he had already started installing when he realized it. So he thought, Its inexpensive to buy and worth it so well just buy another pack and that way well have more than one key. But to me, $30, is $30 and we shouldnt have had to waste two locks or uninstall the locks to return. So Im editing to deduct a star. Be sure to test out all the locks before installing. Also did try it with a smaller magnet, didnt help. Husb had a heavy duty magnet around and that does work. Even with the two broken locks, it still looks so much better than the alternatives AND my son already started to yank on it and it wouldnt budge, not like the other hook things that we installed the first time we childproofed. Original: Were using this as baby proofing so my active 1 year old doesnt open all of our cabinets. We tried the hook things, but my hubby kept opening up the cabinets too quickly and it kept breaking off. Then we went to those plastic ties that go around the knob, but it was kind of ugly (granted, after kids, the house really isnt the same so I didnt notice it until we put these in and it just looks so much cleaner now). Also, those plastic ties tended to rub on the cabinet paint (again, I didnt notice it anymore but my husband paints the cabinets so he noticed it). I subtracted one star because looking around for the one key is sort of a pain. They only give you 1 per set. Wish there were two or three so we can have them in multiple places. We put it on our fridge which is pretty central but I would recommend buying more sets if you want to install around the house. Havent tried with just a regular magnet, but maybe that might help...

> 3 dayI have a baby that loves to get into everything shes not supposed to. When looking for baby locks, the other options seemed really flimsy and I knew it would take about a day for my husband to break them. I saw these and decided to give them a try. Installing these locks is definitely more difficult than the standard baby lock. You have to be careful to line them up properly so the lock catches. All of the hardware is included and Ive had these locks on my drawers for a couple years at this point and havent had one break or come off. The extra time you take installing is definitely worth it- these locks are sturdy and last a long time. When installing these locks my suggestion would be to try and put all of the locks in the same position on every drawer. That way you always know where to place the magnet. The only problem I have had with these locks are the magnetic key. There is nothing wrong with the key but twice I have set the key down on the counter and it magnetized itself to the bottom of a baking sheet and I baked the key. Which melts, obviously, and smells horrible. I would suggest buying a couple extra keys for yourself.

> 3 dayEasy to install. Comes with only one magnet of course, and the addition costs a fortune. Don’t buy the overpriced magnet, I’m using a harbor freight 2$ magnet set. Work like a charm. 5 stars for the product, minus 2 stars for greediness.

23-11-2024So my husband is quite handy but most projects that are a little frustrating tend to inspire an array of expletives. We bought the cheaper screw in type at first which my husband hated . He essentially became a pirate . Do pirates curse a lot? I had a headache and within a day my 1 year old broke through them. I researched and read all the reviews. I ordered these, and hid as my husband installed the first one. He came into the nursery where my son and I played after about 5 minutes and thanked me! He thanked me! He sai these were so stress free and easy to install . Of course it took some time and hes not too excited about installing them on drawers but they work awesome. He told my son your mom just jammed you up buddy . My son can not get into them. Its a little more work to get into the cabinets for me but well worth it :) on to researching more for the other items in the house which my son is determined to injure himself on.
